smiles40 24
I have had a second hand ocean prowler for 2 yr and there's nothing wants me to change it,been in some lumpy seas and about two and half mile out,I would forget the cheapos and get something about 13 ft,you won't regret it. NEWKID 27,136
Im just starting myself ant, spent years on boats so it's been nice over the last couple if years to fish off the yaks. Tbh I'm in the same boat ( so to speak) I've been borrowing yaks off of Geth ( white van man) and also family when we're in Guernsey, it's time to get something. There is something special about catching a decent fish off of one. There's loads on the market place pm Geth he really knows his stuff as far as types and what's required, he's a qualified instructor and has ran loads of trip around our coasts and also in Norway. The only thing I would say is, if you have a shop local go and have a look, our local shop is on the quay so you can try them out in the canal, if you can get in one and have a paddle it will give you more of an idea on what you need. Good luck mate. Another note, we maybe running a couple of trips down here next summer, the same as what we laid in this year. If you fancy getting out and trying it that might be of interest. chrismdd 787
Get some info off of www.anglersafloat.com I got myself an entry level Ocean Kayak Caper. I've used this off of Chesil in Dorset and down as far as Slapton (South Devon). Its not for rough seas so I always fish in close (much prefer fishing in close near the rocky outcrops) and also snorkel and spearfish from it. If you intend to fish further offshore and in lumpier seas then something like the 13ft Prowler would be better and will get you home quicker if the weather turns, However, my Caper is great on the small rivers spinning for pike. definitely try a few out and think carefully about what type of fishing you will mainly be doing and where. Also when you do get one just practise getting on and off in various sea conditions before you start taking the tackle out. Quote Link to post
