nottzhunter08 898
had a good day out with the lads yesterday on some land we had previously done well on last season. i brought along my bitch lass and pup duke and witton brought along his pup clyde wgo is dukes litter brother. first warren rew ran his longnet around the side of the warren that the rabbits normally bolt out of. however we only managed one bolt which was the opposite side to the longnet. lass gave cahse but were the rabbit was heading was a short sprint and she didnt mange a pick up. never mind pup watched. so we moved on. next warren we laid a few purse nets and put longnet acrossone side of the hedge but inside was thick but we manged a few bolts in the purse nets and lass had one in the hole. as we carriesd on up the hedge the nettles got thicker so up xame the ferrets and we moved on. as were headin to the next warren witton decides to run back to the car for his fags and left his pup clyde with us. as were approaching the next sets a rabbit jumps out a thin hedge row and makes a run for it lass chased it down the one side and pushed it out the other and clyde ran it down the hedge and make an excellent puck up for his first ever rabbit seen and caught. and when witton arrived he was gutted he missed the hole thing and his pups first rabbit. we carried on ferreting and managed a few more in the purse net. whilst leaving this warren we headed over a field to the next warren lass charged of in front and got in persuit of a rabbit and picked it up. when she brought the rabbit back i quickly noticed mixy settin in. last warren we ferreted we netted up tje longnet at the topside of the hedge and ferrets towards the warren towards it. as we started ferret we quickly noticed a rabbit in the middle of a seperate feild. lass took off and nailed it on squat. again another mixy. we carried on ferreting manged 1 in the long net and obe bolted field side out the warren with lass sgortly behind it. it took a turn then got picked up good strike by lass. when bought ut back to my releif it was a healthy rabbit. so all in all we ended on 13 with 2 mixys. we all had a good crack and some good sport. cheers 3 Quote Link to post

FERRETBOY 680
It was a cracking day even with the heavy rain and high winds battering us constantly. Started at 7 and finished by half 11,. It was great to see young clyde catch his first at 25 weeks of age. It was the first time he had been out and seen rabbits, witton had a couple his side hit the longnet which excited the pup first of all and im sure he mouthed them in the nets. This probably helped him gain that confidence in making that strike, no hesitation. Lass is getting better each and every time I see her working. Shes always had a good nose and i love the way she works cover and finds game. I reckon we will see her starting to mark warrens in the near future. If it wasn't raining we would had some good footage. Especially that catch with lass at the end. When rabbits are flying daytime across a short grassy field and the lurcher still makes a catch like the way she did then that's when you know something is clicking. I cant wait to get out this weekend but lamping before then. Feels like i haven't been in ages. Quote Link to post
