WILF 47,353
Now that was brilliant, you do yourself a lot more credit posting stuff like that than some of the gibberish. Fair play to you.
Mister Gain 1,764
Interesting read that... and it does no harm at all to be reminded about what our past generations went through.
Brigzy 1,298
Fought through the most horrific war ever....... What would they have thought of Raheem Stirling, who was "to tired to play for England" ?
Country Joe 1,411
Fought through the most horrific war ever....... What would they have thought of Raheem Stirling, who was "to tired to play for England" ? Aye the Miners that worked hard down the pit all week, and played on a Saturday. gnasher16 30,242
What would they have thought of Raheem Stirling, who was "to tired to play for England" ? I dont buy that.....Hodgson seems to have an obssessive fear of hurting players feelings !! ....look at the mess he got himself in after the game when asked about bringing Rooney off before he scored......why didnt he just say " yes i was bringing him off but then he scored so i kept him on ".....likewise why not just say " i dropped Stirling "

bracken boy 584
scotland have defo picked there game up last two year so fair play to them but theres still plenty of shite games in scotland, its their high passion 100mph style that at times gives you a buzz but they still lack class in most areas. gnasher16 30,242
Scots Irish NI Wales For me they just seem to play with more pride and love for the jersey they wear compared to English international players ? Do they play with more passion than Spain ? France ?......Im always curious what passion looks like on a football pitch ?..... Is it just running around a lot ?....or singing the national anthem loudly ? Edited October 15, 2014 by gnasher16
gnasher16 30,242
Todays game is obssessed with stats Max when it comes to " running around " our players cover just as much ground as anyone else, look back at the world cup Gerrard and Rooney over the group matches were in the top 15 players in the competition for ground covered, players like Neymar/Messi etc were not in the top 50 odd ! I didnt see any more passion in the world cup than our players apart from Brazil but then they were the host nations......i just dont buy into all this running round like headless chickens.....theres nothing wrong with our attitude we,re just not good enough its as simple as that. Watch Messi mumble their national anthem, watch how it looks like he just cant be bothered when he doesnt have the ball,he hardly looks passionate...................doesnt stop him being one of the greatest players ever to of played the game though does it. gnasher16 30,242
I just Honestly dont thing the English players are as passionate as the rest of the Host Nations ? Its one of them statements that just seems an increasingly easier bandwagon to jump on these days due to the money in the game........when in all truth theres no real proof or reasoning to it. WILF 47,353
Let me tell everyone, the Germans won this World Cup the day we beat them 4-1 They took a good hard look at themselves and what they had in the ranks and just went and made it happen. I have come to the conclusion that it must be the FA.......hence Harry not getting the job They must be a load of interfering busy bodies who have never kicked a ball but want to stick their oar in all the time........that's all it can be ?? As for Messi, I agree with Gnash that you don't see him throwing himself about, but what you DO see is him getting lumps kicked out of him and he never bats an eyelid, stays on his feet, focused, total self beleife.........if the sterlings a of this world had to endure 10 minutes of what Messi gets the whole game they would be limping off and having to book 2 weeks at the hairdressers to recover. Same as Totti, 38 and scoring in the champions league !!!.......and Sterlings tired?? Character is what it is, looking after yourself and having beleife in your own ability!!!! The Germans have a whole team of players like that So it can only be the FA insisting that the lads play in a certain way that inhibits them showing their true character......because they all have a bit about them, you don't get to play at the level they do with out having a bit of gumption about you. I dont think our Fa help matters........whats the saying about nice guys come last......Hodgson was always going to be the safe option our Fa never had the balls to put Harry up even though he was most peoples popular choice and after all said and done apart from Brooking these suits have never played the game they dont know any more about the game than me and you......well maybe me ..........but that said i just dont think our squad is strong enough right now you can put our lot up player for player with the top nations and we just dont match up which again would of suited Harry.....a manager proven at getting the best out of inferior sides.
blackmaggie 3,376
wasnt it brian clough that said the same about the f a all them years ago i think alot stems from grass roots kids cant even have a kick about in alot of schools or in the street like we use to theses days and most of the money generated today seems to go on talent aboard or the ready made article and are young kids seem to fall by the way side its due to the money to be made from instant success and not being reinvested at grass root level and look at how many qualified coaches we have compared to the likes of germany holland etc
