Meeks 153
Couldn't wait any longer so on wed night the weather was not to bad so had the dog out for his first time lamping at 20months.was out quite early about 10ish so wasn't expecting that many rabbits to be about, but to be honest just wanted the dog to get out show him the beam and maybe 4/5 slips.was only out for just over an hour and only gave the dog two slips cos I was trying to pick them carefully and give him the best chance.first slip started like a dream, the rabbit was a fair bit away but when I flicked the lamp on the dog clocked it straight away at the end of the beam so I slipped him and he ran down the side of the beam and then the rabbit done a bolt,he was quite far away but gained on it easily and looked like he was just about to strike but then the both went down a dip and I lost both of them in the beam, thought the dog was still on to it until I heard something run past me about 4 feet away,it was the bloody rabbit hahaha.the dog didnt have a clue where it went.so I called him in and out him back on the lead.had to laugh,it was quiet funny.second one walking back to the car, flicked the lamp into this one and walked up on it abit, definatley thought the dog had clocked it so slipped him bit then he started heading the the opposite direction lol, called him,he stopped about 20 feet away and just looked at me as if to say' what the f*ck is it' a wee bit pointing and shaking of the lamp(lucky the rabbit stayed put) he finally spotted it in the beam and off he went, where after a short chase he bagged his first rabbit on the lamp.:-) so headed home chuffed and a big smile on my face even though we only bagged one.here's to the next time :-) 3 Quote Link to post
