valentino 0
around about 18 months ago, my brother brought a 12 week old pup to me that was going to be shot...just because nobody wanted him.... well i didnt have the room to keep this pup, which was sopposedly a ridgeback bullmastiff cross, and my cousin who was round at the time said he would have him in 2 weeks time once he moved into his new house.......so i took in 'dingo' as i named him for the said two weeks......or so i thought as my cousin was still trying to get his house sorted...anyway the days, weeks and months past...and dingo was growing into a smart, strong, proud dog,...full of courage and intellegence and very loyal...i was really getting attatched to this dog...he was a exellent hunter, coming out with the lurchers and terriers...and proving his worth hunting woods and cover and also picking up the odd rabbit and pheasant.....dingo also proved a trustworthy guard too, and was a pleasure to be with... as time grew on part of me didnt want to let this dog go...but i knew i was only looking after him..... just before christmas last year i told my cousin to come for him,..as i had bitches in heat and my dog lurcher and dingo didnt get on......and it was much longer than the two weeks i was sopposedly looking after him for..as the dog was nearly 12 months old now so we fast forward to today....when i was in the area were my cousin lives, so i drove round to see dingo and i couldnt believe it....the dog was a state.....he was chained by a chain with a breaking weight of 150 kg that was only around 1 or 2 metres in length, shite all over, mangled fur (which i belive is stress) dirty appearance..... but that never shocked me as much as the look of sadness in his eyes...it tore me up...so i got out of the car to see him...and he was petrefied.....he didnt no what to do...and ran into his kennel round the corner, very frightened (and i was expecting him to be all over me) anyway i got a bone out of my car and took it to him...he nervously took it from me then ran back into the kennel.....i was gutted then 5 seconds later it must have clicked with him that it was me and he came flying back out ecstatic.....i fused him for a while and give him the attention he was craving.....but i had to leave, and couldnt take him with me as my dog lurcher and him will fight and i dont have the room....anyway i went back and got some picture of the dog.....now in the pic he is happy and jumping about as i returned so he doesnt look as bad as he did when he didnt know it was me...he was heartbroken..a dog with no spirit...broken.......and for me to see this dog like tht from what he was is heartbreaking here is a couple of pics of dingo as a 8 month old pup when i had him he was such a happy out going dog and here he was today...and belive me he is alot worse than this as he is broken...its only cause i was there that he was jumping around now i have tried to contact my cousin with no answer...and when i do catch him, i know exactly what im going to do... anyway i cant take dingo back to mine, its impossible...but if anyone wants him i will take him anywhere in tyne and wear, east durham north durham durham city south east northumberland hartlepool middlesborough or if someone wants to give him a good home that he deserves i will take him to mine for you he is a top dog and needs a home that will treat him with the care and respect he deserves valentino Edited October 22, 2007 by valentino Quote Link to post

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Valentino; This Dog and ye male Lurker don't get on? Do ye know whose side that's from, mate? Is it that Dingo there doesn't tolerate other male Dogs, full stop? Or was it a dominance thing with ye Lurker wanting to put the new kid in his place? Quote Link to post

valentino 0
thank you to everyone who has offered to look after dingo....till he finds a new home i have had him out all day with me today, and he has been spot on..a little 'distant' with his obedience but i cant blame him as by the looks of it he has been left unatended for the last 10 months and was just excited to be out..and enjoying himself... it was great to see the sparkle coming back into him.... now what i have done is put some bedding in for him as he was just sleeping on the concrete....i have put some water in as he had none and i have brushed him out....i have also left a nice note for my cousin to,...and he will be crossing my path soon,...if not i will go to his work, where i definatley know where he will be with regards to me keeping the dog,....unfortunatley its not practical...i have 7 of my own, and even though i think this dog is a top dog, i have enough with my own...but i will keep this dog right until a new home can be found....he will be out for most of the day now and will be fed and watered correctly, plus have a warm place to sleep now......and most importantly he will have his life back this dog to me also has gsd in him,...and what ever he is, he is a top hunter and was easy to train...he is just a nice dog that deserves a good home for life,.... now i have also found out today that this may not be the first dog this lad has neglected.....around 4/5 years ago..maybe longer he moved from the north east to lancashire to work on a hunt kennels....anyway i took a dog down for him (a blue lurcher dog, first cross collie greyhound) that belonged to a good friend of mine, but unfortunatley he had to re home him due to family reasons and asked me if i wanted him.....as much as i wanted this dog as i wanted him to use as a stud for my bitch and he was a top worker i couldnt keep him, so i took him down to the lad who was working there....anyway when he returned in without the dog, he said it had been knocked over and died......but i found out today from a local farmer that the lad had this dog took off him by a farmer down there because it was in such a state.......so if anyone knos about this i would like to know the proper story...now i dont know what hunt kennels it was...so maybe im asking smething without any info...to give? valentino Quote Link to post
