Lakeland Help

Hi all I am picking up a lakeland terrier next week and I'm told it's full lakeland but on the pics it's a red bitch but has two white rear feet and a small white patch on its chest.... does this mean that it's not full and say they may have mixed the breed with a russle ...any help asap

To be truthfull I've no idea if it a pure bred or not but , Is it one of them show kc Lakeland or have you bought it for graft ? If the answer is to graft then you've got to ask yourself this , will it's two white back feet and small white patch on its chest effect it's graft ?

Yes it might affect its graft, bit a Russell, lakie, maybe a fluke, better off in the show ring, tell em what you like, say you've had em in your yard for thirty years,

my 5 month old pup I got from churchy has a white patch on his chest its mother and father

never had it cant see a problem think it just happens now and then

thanks for that.. i just didn't want to pay for a lakeland and get a cross that i could have got for half the price... not really fussed on the white it was more of the paying for what i wanted...

If you cant see both parents ,dont part with hard earned anyway .Do a bit of background on the seller and his dogs and never buy on impulse .

leave the dam things their....if you want a pet or ferreting partner or lal mouching dog great but if you want a digging terrier then i would be looking elsewhere

I wouldnt bother with that mate..or if you are young you can learn the hard way after spending lots of lolly over a few years,but to save time just believe around 99% of terriers sold for work are crap. Its not easy finding the one percent but they do exist.

I wouldn't be parting with hard earned money if you can't see both the sire and dam in the flesh even if it's only for a pet. If you are after a genuine worker then a lot more research is needed, good luck matt

i have decided to go for it .. the dam will be there to see and i have had a few pics of sire they dont own him... im happy with the look of them both ..the pup will be mostly a shooting companion and a busher/foxer so i am pretty sure she will become a nice little friend ...thank you all for the help andy

Good luck with the pup andy, is it not worth tracing the sire and meeting him in the flesh. As Iam sure you are aware terriers can be very variable in temperament and pics don't tell you anything about a dog other than looks and even looks can differ in reality. Ten plus years with a dog is a long time atb

dont matter what colour it is just worker to worker! thats if you want a worker?

He doesn't want or know much and that's what he's getting, may suit him, but there's plenty who just take your bit of money, and fill your head with rubbish. I don't know why you are bothered if it has Russel in it, make it more of a one off
