Bought Or Reared?

Out of interest have you reared your lurcher from a pup or bought it working? Or do any good ones really get sold? Horses for courses but what do you prefer and why?

Pups everytime tried bringing a 10 month old pup in last year and didnt gel with it

Had both my lurchers since six weeks, although the blue& tan one I never really got to put much input in till she was up a bit (was my sisters dog) but was still there to guide and more or less have an input and the white bitch is all my input.

Decent dogs can be brought peoples situation change,ect.

Bought one in older took a while to bond but when we did she turned out fine the rest about 7 over the years were pups

she wants to rescue a cur in a year an I told her not a sniff is she bringing anything over 6 months home.

Years ago I had a dog from pup he was superb chap and I thought the world of him then I lost him to an accident one night at 2-3 years old. I thought no way can I go through all that effort and heart ache then lose another so I bought an adult and he was a cracking dog. Loyal and lovely temperament not that great during the day but I wanted a lamper and he did that well. So you can get good adults but I think good day time dogs are thin on the ground unless some one really is in the shite they are not likely to get rid

Had both, if your a man that won't keep the dog if its not upto what you want then a pup may not be the answer

Got mine for free shes great day and night has a soft mouth i dont need to use a slip when lamping and wont touch the pet rabbit i couldn't of bought a better doh

got to be a pup for me , wouldnt be the same running something someone else reared as it is brining it on yourself and watching it learn/develop/bond with it everyones different though

i have bought in twice one of those was utter shite and this one was a genuine sale still have her now turned out to be a cracking bitch but now i have no need to buy in i have two pups from her an my old dog

always found it easier to bond with pups and you know there strengths and weaknesses and what you have put in but i have bought in but only ever on trial except when a dog i had seen a few times came up due to the lad getting life and he was worth his weight in gold did everything asked of him really wish i had took a pup out of him still working and taking gear aged 10 plus died because of them clueless arsecpa barstools
