Rapid 7 Advice

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all,

I am looking for advice, hints, tips etx, basically anything regarding the theoben rifles, since the rapid first arrived on scene I have always thought about owning one, I have placed adverts out there and actively searching for one, what should I be looking for, the only thing I know is I do not want .177, not really after any more fac so sub 12 (unless an excellent deal presented itself)

I have been offered an mfr .20, opinions please ?

Check out http://theoben-rapid.co.uk/ a great bunch of guys who's knowledge of theoben rifles is second to none and will help anyway they can ...mfr, s are fantastic if its been looked after and not abused but even a bad one can be sorted without to much trouble thats the beauty with the rapids... I've got a mk2 and I love it to date it hasn't let me down once.

Many Rapids have been messed about with over the years, sometimes by people who don't really know what they're doing. The good thing is though, theyre solidly engineered, easy to work on and should serve you for many, many years. The longer barrelled FAC ones are a bit of a hefty handler, but them make a really good vermin tool with a good shot count. If you get a Dr Bob quick fill and gauge, they're an even better tool. Not that much to go wrong really. Easy to mend if they do go wrong.

Thanks for the replies so far, I am waiting for my rapid owners membership to be approved.

So, what's the mfr all about, as I had looked at the mk 1 originally, then recently looking at the mk2 which I do prefer the look of, but had never heard of mfr until last week !

Most of what has been said so far is pretty common news, any gun that works well at fac levels and has the rep the rapids carry have generally had messers pulling them apart not knowing what they are doing, same with the bsa s10 which I own quite a few of (7 or 9 at the last count)I know what to look at with those though, what should I really look at when viewing a rapid, I would like to view and try anything I buy rather than via post !

Chances are, any gun I buy I will be looking to have it professionally tuned and serviced, not for fac, but for smooth ease of use etc, who is the man to deal with rapids ? I would be looking for the best job possible rather than price

The best bloke by far is on your doorstep mate

Really, do tell, I must be missing something as all the folk into air around here I would not let loose with a push bike pump

One example, guy thought his brand new r10 was leaking, so laid it in a bath tub full of water, scope included, get my drift on the sort of air gunners around here ?

Thing is with a Rapid every part of it can be upgraded when and where designs/upgrades become available and there is a huge following of enthusiasts who know these guns inside out and make/fit/fettle upgraded parts for them accordingly. Theoben rested on there laurels and didn't apply themselves to making any upgrades to the Rapid platform and generally ignoring customers wants and paid the price for it. Funnily enough the company's that have come from the Theoben ashes now have upgraded parts fitted in them that were first made and designed by these enthusiasts, things such as quick fills, guages, silent hammer pips, lightweight valves, slip discs, upgraded regs, etc .
