New Permission, Soon To Shoot! Best Shooting Position Ever!

Well, here's an odd one. Neighbour popped over and said "I've heard you're good with shooting rats." To which I lied and said "Yes, I'm a good shot. How come?" Thinking her mother (rich with a lot of land) might want me to pop over and take out some rabbits or something for her.

 

Well, it turns out that my neighbour has a couple of rats that are eating off her bird table! Yes, right next to my garden. So now I have permission to shoot out of my bedroom window, over the fence, to take out the rats.

 

One of the benefits of this, I'm now keeping a tub of pellets, a little gun oil, and my springer, next to my bed.

 

But best of all, my neighbour's fella has an air rifle and managed to put a hole in her bird table. So now I get to wake up in the morning, open the window a little, lay in my bed, load up my rifle, and wait. I'm looking forward to the day when I see the rat and put it down. My wife will freak, being awoken my the sound of a hefting springer just above her head! haha

just be wary of any busy body neighbours sticking their nose in. you may have permission but if someone is 'caused any distress' the old bill will be round. a friend of mine was shooting at targets in his garden from his bedroom window and had the armed response nearly kick his door in and searched the house. they searched everywhere including the loft but didnt look under the bed where he had chucked his gun?!

the last thing the wife wants to be woken by is the plod kickin the front door in on a sunday morning.

That's better than some of things I've hefted round my mrs's head while she's asleep.

That's a fair point. Thankfully all my neighbours are very used to the sound of my springer. The fast that I took a window out to make it easier to hang out and clean the gutter...they're pretty used to me. But still, I'll take the shot from a semi concealed spot. Just make sure my gun is all inside the window and draped in bedroom camo...white, to match the walls.
