RemyBolt 420
Throughout the ages dates have been changed and years adapted. Monarchs have had the starts of years changed to their birthdays, or calendars adapted so that their era of rule has occurred at a seemingly more prestigious date. I'd like to get people's thoughts and ideas on this topic. Personally, I'm undecided and not overly sure about what impact such things would have. The dominant 'phantom time' advocates say that we are actually living in the 1700's-1750's and not the 2010's. If they were right, would there be much of an impact to the world? I really don't think there would be, in which case, the idea of phantom time would be of little to no effect, other than I'd have to adjust my knowledge of the date of the Battle of Hasting's....and my birthday. So aside from adjusting dates in history books, what would be the impact?
Born Hunter 17,788
These Phantom Time 'advocates'..... are they like the flat world brigade? Or is there actually some scientific evidence to give it credibility? My opinion is that the absolute value we give to the present is completely arbitrary. It's the actual time line and sequence of events that is important.

As for the advocates, they are generally using architecture and carbon dating that suggests that the period we think of as bring 600-900AD actually never happened. Records from those periods do not seem to exist and architecture from 600AD is identical to 900AD, and in 300 years there is no variance, but there are also no other buildings 'recognised' as bring from between 600-900AD. Weird hu?

RemyBolt 420
Basically the principle is that although the 'recognised' year is 2014 at the moment, the idea is that because of all the changes to the calendar, changes of year, month changes, change from lunar to solar calendar, we're actually living around 1700AD instead of the recognised 2014. RemyBolt 420
I can see where this thread is going to lead ffs …… ding ding RD2 Sorry to ruin this for you mate, I'm really undecided on the subject, so I'm not overly interested in 'fighting' any side for or against. It's something I have heard about and just wondered if anyone else had heard anything on the subject. Also, if it was true, I'm really not sure of the effect it would have, other than changing the dates on calendars and in history books.

Weird hu? So the Mayan calendar is just running 300 years late then? The world might end in 300 years time? And im here thinking ive read all the nut job conspiracies lol. RemyBolt 420
I think this is the only one that could be right. But even if it is right, it doesn't change a thing. So it's really just a mental exercise more than anything. It's known that the months were changed so that a queen's birthday was the first day of the year. Years have been changed so that monarch's could reign on prestigious dates, e.g. 1000AD. I think this could have legs, but even if it does, nothing changes but a few numbers in text books. So that really makes it not worth chasing.
