jessdale 416
Yes you can definitely train your dog without a dummy launcher. Quote Link to post
CHEVINFOX 3,537
by the time you f%&^$£ about with a dummy launcher you could throw 10 dummies imo Quote Link to post
jangles 24
You could end up with a very nervous dog using one ... leave well alone. Use party poppers (take the streamers out first !!) progress to a starting pistol then shotgun .... all at a distance to start with Jangles Quote Link to post
Barry83 28
Dummy launchers are not necessary for training if you have a young dog start with a tennis ball retrieval then up your game to just dummy's dummy launchers are primarily for long distance retrieves to let your dog get a better mark on it as it draws attention with the sound Quote Link to post

butcherboy 68
Thanks my dog is 13 months old now retrieving well I have got her retrieving rabbits and wood pigeons as well as a dummy covered in a hair skin but its just getting her to retrieve from a greater distance I am trying to do Just send her for long memory retrieves then. You can get buy without a dummy launcher. Even if you have one they are best used when somebody else does the firing, so they could equally just throw the dummy while placed out in the field.
