L200 AD 4
I have an L200 33mpg 70- no problem very good off road as iv'e just been around Kirton off road centre with only one glitch. Could not believe what it can actually get up and over. If you get a 4x4 you got to go to Kirton.

will.f11 24
You could get like a 10 or 11 plate ford ranger or Isuzu rodeo for like 10,000 with low mileage from a dealer or even a good defender second hand private, I drive a fourtrak independent 2.8 turbo I love it, go anywhere off road and is pleasant on road
nothernlite 18,080
You could get a car and a half decent 4x4 for 10.000
Rake aboot 4,935
A £600 vitara and an Audi TT
Poacherspocket 189
Keel the skoda and buy a cheap 4x4. The money you save in fuel driving your skoda will pay for the 4x4 if you do a lot of miles.

Matthew Phillips 36
Right so i got myself a VW tiguan in the end, went for the escape model as it has a better approach angle and underbody protection. Taken it down the farm on a wet day and it handles well, even with road tyres. Very pleased with it, and the 47-50mpg it returns on the motorway. :-)

Matthew Phillips 36
But does the freelander get 45-50mpg? And did they both have the same tyres when doing this test? And could you get a 3year old car, with leather, heated seats, air con, winter pack, for under £12,000? Apples to oranges.... and that's not the 'Escape' version of the Tiguan.
