RemyBolt 420
In a litter you can get enough variation. If your whippet has no prey drive for rats, get it bitten by a rat. That'll cause enough resentment to make it smash every rat it meets. One of the best ratting dogs I've seen is a lurcher (greyhound x Jack Russel...weird mix, but mum was the greyhound lay down, and the Jack Russel saw an opportunity and went for it). We have 2 whippets with pretty much ZERO prey drive. Dash saw a rabbit in a field and went over to it and started licking it. We have a total of 18 animals in our house, and the dogs have been totally bleached of any prey drive. I'm having to start them after small teddies to get some prey drive back! The problem is the wife won't let me take them down the farm yet.

RemyBolt 420
Frig sake remy does she stick a strap on up your tea towel holder too? Lololol. Hit her a smack Haha, that's how it feels sometimes. Like a clamp on my balls! To be fair mate, there are awkward circumstances that I'm not in control of at the moment that mean I'm not at liberty to pursue that course of action (long story). It totally sucks! Worse still, I'm not a dog person at all!!! She has always wanted dogs, and I've always wanted to NEVER have dogs. So, taking them ratting....it's the one thing that might make me start to like them. Instead of being time and money leeches, they'll have a purpose! Ratting....and I'm not allowed to do it. So, for me, they are just pets, and I have never been a person that's found any benefit to pets. Working dogs/animals, they make sense, but just pets....not my thing. When I caught the rat in the bedroom the other day, I was not allowed to take one of the dogs out for when I released it, to see how he did. Not allowed. But they really are her dogs and not mine. I never wanted them in the first place, and now that we have them, I still don't want them. Free dogs anyone? Must remain as a pack....zero prey drive, super sensitive stomachs,....any takers? haha
