mattybugeye 884
Went to buy a semi auto Saturday morning was going up to look at a few including a gen 1 hatsan and a remmington ended up spending little more and bought a new gen 2 hatsan escort magnum 3" 28" barrel I was weiry as heard a lot of bad on the early ones but a lot of good on the newer versions so went for it . Took it for a test yesterday put around 60 carts through it it cycled everything even a couple of 21g loads I had shoots spot on tried few chokes and settled on 3/4 nice and tight Ended up with couple of pigeons and a maggie too was only out a hour pattening it . Much prefer the newer mag loading system and external chokes looking forward to getting out more with it once work calms down Know it's a hatsan but it does the job for me and at 300 quid how can I moan Went for synthetic version over wood. Anyone else using one ? Couple of pics ... Bargin just Hooe it keeps up the good work but it's nice and easy to strip and clean so should do 1 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
As you say, some of the earlier models were a joke and even dangerous. Hopefully they have learnt from their mistakes, if they have addressed the design and quality control issues then the new guns may well be ok. ATB! Quote Link to post
ianm 2,594
I know of a couple of Hatsans where the barrel parted company with the action and dissapeared down the marsh when used with 31/2" carts. 1 Quote Link to post
mattybugeye 884
Yea the 3 1/2" are suppose to be the worst Hense me buying the 3 " but if it does the job happy days if not it goes back simples. I know a lad with a gen 1 had it 4 years uses Weekley and never missed a beat but guess it's luck of the draw Quote Link to post
Bigad 136
I have a mark 1 and it's never jammed even when ghost loaded it for the extra shot Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Good luck with it mate Quote Link to post
nasher1 258
I've had a gen 1 for a couple of years now, its been spot on and cycles everything, it jammed last week for the first time on a duff cart and I had to basically rip the thing apart to free it. I think the thing to do with hatsans is clean them after every outing and I don't mean a quick barrel wipe I mean the full works, hope you enjoy yours atb Roy Quote Link to post
slipper 116
300 quid for a semi auto brand new with warranty can't be bad! I, ve been thinking of getting a semi auto for a while and they have a very attractive price tag Quote Link to post
jack68 628
I have one here and would not swop it for any other gun, good in a hide or walking the hedge lines..t Quote Link to post
Terryorr 27
I know the old Hatsons give a lot of trouble but if the new models are only £300 and cycle everything down to 21g loads, that's excellent. I have a Browning fusion and a Beretta 302, both excellent shotguns but neither will cycle 21g loads. ATB Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,100
I have one 26 inch barrel and it gets a lot of work, that's why I got it as I knew the abuse it would get and didn't want to ruin a good a expensive gun,its synthetic stocked the same as yours and its given me good service, either dragged through hedges or bounced around on the quad, there's a lot of stuff said about them, and I have seen one of the first ones try and depart with the barrel, but mines fine and has been used almost daily for a couple of years, I think mine is the model before yours with the internal chokes, for the money I paid I cant fault it and it cycles well,I think the first ones damaged the reputation of them very badly, and as such there seems to be a stigma around them, each to there own and I hope it serves you well. Never jammed on me yet and it has had a bit of abuse....I use it on the foreshore and for going round feeding ponds etc, got it to try and save my old 301..... Quote Link to post
