The one 8,482
In forty years I've had to vault a gate when a cow charged me , one head butted my ferret box and I got a big bruise on my thigh , then last season we came over a hill and there was a Abedeen Angus bull and a few cows and calves and its knob was out between its front legs and it was beating it fron side to side then it started pawing the ground I put two fences between us and it Quote Link to post

Ive worked with cattle for last 10yrs. We had 5 pedigree charolais bulls at one point. The ones who would try and kill ye always seemed to be limousin x cows... Oh and most of time they charge ye they are bluffing... Seems you cant tell the difference between cattle taking the piss out of ye and trying to kill you. Perhaps it is a good idea for a gobshite like you to stay well clear of cattle 2 Quote Link to post

Tiercel 6,986
Been around cattle all my life, the three worst bulls are, as they say in no particular order. Jersey, Guernsey and Friesians I would not trust those an inch. The rest are pretty good if you follow a few simple rules, never walk between them and his cows, strange dogs that they do not know are a no no. Generally speaking though the bigger the bull the more placid it is. That said you do get some big ones go off the rails sometimes. TC 1 Quote Link to post
micky 3,325
i was tossed by a Friesian bull in the 70s , i was in hospital 3 week s and if it had been polled i would have killed me Quote Link to post

The one 8,482
Aye normally the milk breeds are barstools and are penned up beef breeds are normally fine but they move this aberdeen angus with tractors so i reckon its well fecked up there used to be Highland cattle in a few fields i did and you had to ferret round them they wouldnt move for you and they werent phased in any way by you and the horns where over four foot long easily Quote Link to post
Katsdad 31
Never trust any animal fully they are like us it takes just a trigger and they can turn real nasty,it's nature. But must admit that having worked with cattle you get to recognise the signs and then you walk away,no shame in that better to walk away than have to be carried out. Neal 1,869
That's why I go ferreting with a kelpie...they're not fast enough to catch anything but they keep the cattle away from the nets! Only joking! Quote Link to post
