Great Clip About Wolves

Recommended Posts

Interesting little piece, obviously a bit of pro-wolf campaigning but I'm all for the wolf so good on them. Difficult to see how they could conclusively prove all this in less than 20 years, especially the bit about the rivers & bank erosion, but the return of an apex predator would definitely have had an effect and brought a balance back.

Could do with re-introducing wolves to the playing fields & woods over the road from me...., absolutely moving with deer. No f**kin rabbits now mind.

I also think they should be reintroduced in to certain parts of Britain, especially Scotland, as their is a huge red deer population up their that is causing a lot of damage to trees ect.

I remember hearing that wolves were being reintroduced up there.

There was a whole series on Yellowstone and that explained the theory in detail and the wolves did indeed save Yellowstone national park .......

Yes ive watched that.

they say that yellowstone is the head of a super volcano.

Has its own environment, its own weather system etc.

Oh, maybe it's just proposals to reintroduce then. Sorry if I got your hopes up.

Thank you for the links, interesting reading.

I hope they reintroduce them, easier said then done, as i don't blame some of the farmers for objecting.

Their is plenty of red deer up their for them, that is for certain.

I watched a programme Stephen Fry did travelling round the US, he called at a remote farm near Yellowstone, the couple that ran it hated the wolves because they killed and ate all their dogs, they love a bit of dog apparently? Seen one wild wolf once in Europe, only a smallish thing, like a decent sized collie, it was hunting a cut cornfield for mice/rats early one morning.

I remember seeing a load of footprints when sat on a ski-lift. They went from one patch of trees to another. Over the week we kept seeing these prints. It wasn't until we were leaving that we found out they were wolf prints! The prints were on one side of the mountain, the skiing section is just a few meters off the part with the tracks. If you can imagine a mountain with a large backwards slightly crooked L shape. on it. The _ of the backwards L is at the bottom of the mountain, and leads from the bottom of the ski runs to the ski lift. The I part of the mountain is roughly where the ski runs are. Now imagine a line connecting the tip of the _ and top of the I. That line is the ski lift, and the area where the tracks were! Proper freaky.
