Rake aboot 4,936
He does do reverse 3/4 dogs and someone on here has one from him that seems to be getting on fine. Can`t say it would be my choice. The dog I have is from 2 lurchers, not a greyhound bitch, so the brothers, who are now stud dogs, are not fully beardie or border crosses, they have a mix of both,. Sire was beardie x grey (reverse 3/4) Dam was border x grey (1/4 x). Was the first time he had tried that breeding and they have turned out fine. A few have went to wrking homes, and as I have said, I love mine. He`s a total fruit loop, but has overwhelming good points. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Birds never sure exactly what dog he wants though ! he`d keep a dozen if he could get away with it. Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
Is that the dog you put a picture up of the other day rake? A rough coated dog? Quote Link to post

Your dog would carry border and beardie on both sides, and has slightly more collie than grey in the breeding Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
That's what mines is Chid, as I said he`s brother to the 3 current stud dogs from the line (Tweedledum x Millie) Gamerooster, yeh that's Jake. The scruffy looking twat. Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
Hes a solid looking dog rake, seems to get the job done...... if there was anything you could change about him, what would it be? Quote Link to post
bird 10,004
Birds never sure exactly what dog he wants though ! he`d keep a dozen if he could get away with it. true , but deff wouldn't have one with collie in it again if I am honest , there ok its I don't like there temps, they suit some people ,but not me as a rabbit dog there hard to beat . I like the gsd x there ok , they seem to me a different mind set to a colliex , which prob better for me and lets face it you get on with the dog, apart from hunting as well . I like lurchers with bull in them as well, there some good lurcher to lurcher bred bullxs out there very good dogs on any quarry 1 Quote Link to post

The scruffy looking twat. theyve also got a brother from a repeat mating as a stud now dickie his is name ... Millie is by a reverse 5/8s dog so is slightly more than a quarter collie.. people always say you know what your getting with a hancock ie collie grey but sometimes the mutts are sold as a certain cross % wise when there not , just look at the adverts for alex pups Quote Link to post

I`d probably like him to be a bit more aggressive tbh. Sounds strange, but maybe his preydrive could be higher. He seems to assess everything, and sometimes you don`t want him to ! hahahaha collies eh ?? Quote Link to post
fluff 409
there better bred collie type lurchers out there, wouldnt line a non working dog or buy one , saw several hancocks but not any that would set the heather alite , ,,ive alway found good working dogs come from generaitions of good workers no matter if its terriers ferrets spaneils etc its not rocket science 1 Quote Link to post
neil b 2,369
I have a 1/2bred out of arther she's coming on really well, training went well, it's the first half bred iv had and am well impressed so far Quote Link to post
tsteve9999 456
I've got a half x out of Wilson and so far I'm pleased with him. I was after a rabbit dog pure and simple and he's exactly as I'd hoped in size at about 24"tts and 45-50lb. and at nearly 12 months old he's still very puppyish. though in the last few weeks he's shown signs he's maturing. I doubt very much that he will be anything much more than a rabbit dog unless there's a major change in his dispostion, but that's all I need so no problems there. Plus points are his nose is better than my old dog I think, he's way more agile and almost as quick, easy to train and just one of those dogs you can take anywhere knowing he's not going to embarrass you. He was a typical Hancock dog as a pup, nervous of everything but patience and a lot of socialising has cured that, though it took a lot longer than I thought it would. At the minute he's still very submissive and doesn't seem nearly as committed as my old dog but saying that he's getting better by the week so I'm hoping it's because he's still immature, I suppose time will tell. Other than that the only real problem I have is that he constantly brings me things to throw for him, it drives me mad at times. I spoke to Ray (Bird) off here at length about collie crosses before I took the plunge, and have to say almost everything he told me turned out to be true, if my dogs typical they won't be for everyone, but I'm enjoying mine Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
I think people get a little hung up on Bunnys and what may best suit their destruction. In reality rabbits take little running and catching, ive known some real dross bred lurchers that accounted for bags full of bunny,s.Ill warrant there may be a multitude of sorts and types, breeding known and little cared for, that will have an habit of mullering big eared rodents with aplomb. Its to easy to get into the realms of fiction and fantasy seeking the ultimate bunny basher,in reality there are to many options available, that will suit all preferences,i still prefer an honest collie cur hybrid though. 3 Quote Link to post
