AKA-BRINDLE 879 Posted September 28, 2014 Report Share Posted September 28, 2014 regards books, four kings, about hagler/duran/leonard and hearns is a belter. just started reading "no middle ground" about the benn/eubank/watson match ups, aint far enough into it to give an opinion yet...Bare fists by bob mee is a good book on the days before gloved boxing, giving accounts from broughton and slack, right thru to sullivans fight with kilrain. great read for the history buffs! Yokel Bob Mee's book is a good'un... but its mostly stuff taken from Egans 'Boxiana'...i love reading about the old bare knuckle era...1790-1860s ...Jon Hurleys done a couple of good books from around that time about Cribb and Spring well worth a read...but if people want to read about a proper bare knuckle boxer...JEM MACE...FIFTY YEARS A FIGHTER...a cracking read written in the mans own words...an important piece of British and Boxing history...from the last of the Bare knuckle Champions and the first World Champion. Swaffham (beeston) boy mace, not a million miles from where i'm sat. i'll stick that book on my "to read" list. Saw tibbsys book in waterstones a few weeks back, another i wouldn't mind a look at... gnasher16 30,456 Posted September 28, 2014 Report Share Posted September 28, 2014 Just keen to read the book...not join his fanclub ...one of the most respected British trainers around...what British boxing fan wouldnt be keen to read it?...another trainer down your neck of the woods i really rate is...Jason Rowland...got a topclass prospect with that young Mitchell Smith!...always liked Jason Rowland as a boxer... he was a Stafford fancier and got one of his finger bit off splitting up an accidental kennel scrap...anyway Tibb's book didnt disapoint...recomend it Good boy Jason yes Mitchell is going places,look out for another lad Miles Shinkwin whos coming along nicely and of course Tony Conquest is another of Jasons fighters........Jimmy trained Jason and his brother Roy at the Black Lion back years ago.......a little story that was editted out of the book was when Chris Eubanks brother got beat by Roy twice on the spin and a week later turned up at the Black Lion demanding Jimmy train him........................to which he was abrupty shown the door after saying " do you know who my brother is " 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Had 10 pro fights won 6 lost 3 drew 1.The british heavyweight John L Gardner beat him in 6 rounds. Died in 2007 2 kids he had are serving life in prison for murder. Yeah he jacked alright, all those years stuck inside definitely messed his head up. Heard he turned into a laughing stock in Wakey, shouting abuse at passers by, pissing on the street.
