These overweight men with shaved heads and tattoos are a dime a dozen in every town they all think they're killers with ties to the military and they all say they had bare knuckle fights until some on

Willing to bet your not the most intelligent lol. A true legend? Word is so thrown about it devalues those who are legends. Can say the blokes a hard man and what not but what makes him a legend? I'm

i'm not to sure i'd want to be buying a book and lining the pockets of a dirty c.unt convicted of raping young boys! yokel.

regards books, four kings, about hagler/duran/leonard and hearns is a belter. just started reading "no middle ground" about the benn/eubank/watson match ups, aint far enough into it to give an opinion yet...Bare fists by bob mee is a good book on the days before gloved boxing, giving accounts from broughton and slack, right thru to sullivans fight with kilrain. great read for the history buffs!

Yokel

Bob Mee's book is a good'un... but its mostly stuff taken from Egans 'Boxiana'...i love reading about the old bare knuckle era...1790-1860s ...Jon Hurleys done a couple of good books from around that time about Cribb and Spring well worth a read...but if people want to read about a proper bare knuckle boxer...JEM MACE...FIFTY YEARS A FIGHTER...a cracking read written in the mans own words...an important piece of British and Boxing history...from the last of the Bare knuckle Champions and the first World Champion.

Swaffham (beeston) boy mace, not a million miles from where i'm sat. i'll stick that book on my "to read" list. Saw tibbsys book in waterstones a few weeks back, another i wouldn't mind a look at... ;)

Sort of off subject but came across a short old documentary about a boxer. Paul Sykes came up through watching other videos and I clicked it. Bloke seems an absolute nut case lol.

Paul sykes from wakefield? was a good few naughty rumours about his antics whilst locked up, re: knocking out and raping younger prisoners!!!!

Yokel

Yeah I read that in the YouTube comments. You seen the documentary on him? The day he gets married to his wife is a joke, so much for her big day.

Just keen to read the book...not join his fanclub :D ...one of the most respected British trainers around...what British boxing fan wouldnt be keen to read it?...another trainer down your neck of the woods i really rate is...Jason Rowland...got a topclass prospect with that young Mitchell Smith!...always liked Jason Rowland as a boxer... he was a Stafford fancier and got one of his finger bit off splitting up an accidental kennel scrap...anyway Tibb's book didnt disapoint...recomend it

Good boy Jason yes Mitchell is going places, look out for another lad Miles Shinkwin whos coming along nicely and of course Tony Conquest is another of Jasons fighters........Jimmy trained Jason and his brother Roy at the Black Lion back years ago.......a little story that was editted out of the book was when Chris Eubanks brother got beat by Roy twice on the spin and a week later turned up at the Black Lion demanding Jimmy train him........................to which he was abrupty shown the door after saying " do you know who my brother is " :D

That man was a stark raving lunatic, he could fight in his heyday. Can't believe quit while challenging for the Commonwealth title.

Yeah he jacked alright, all those years stuck inside definitely messed his head up. Heard he turned into a laughing stock in Wakey, shouting abuse at passers by, pissing on the street. A Gang of lads set him on fire while asleep pissed up on a bench I think, drink killed him in the end.

Know it well...swan lane...is there a coffee shop down there now?...used to be a cracking little record shop there in the 80s called Backs...Mace only owned the place for a couple of years...locals who lost money on him burned it out when he was accused of throwing a fight in London...it used to host the annual Norwich-v-Ipswich cock fight contest...round the corner in pottergate theres flagstone dedicated to Jem...(also the old CH Ned Painter who owned the Iron mongers arms)...next time your in Norwich and fancy a cuppa...try the Heavyweight boxer Sam Sexton's KO diner on Hall Rd...not sure if he do a latte...
