Pro Boxer Versus Bare Knuckle Champ

Recommended Posts

regards books, four kings, about hagler/duran/leonard and hearns is a belter. just started reading "no middle ground" about the benn/eubank/watson match ups, aint far enough into it to give an opinion yet...Bare fists by bob mee is a good book on the days before gloved boxing, giving accounts from broughton and slack, right thru to sullivans fight with kilrain. great read for the history buffs!

Bob Mee's book is a good'un... but its mostly stuff taken from Egans 'Boxiana'...i love reading about the old bare knuckle era...1790-1860s ...Jon Hurleys done a couple of good books from around that time about Cribb and Spring well worth a read...but if people want to read about a proper bare knuckle boxer...JEM MACE...FIFTY YEARS A FIGHTER...a cracking read written in the mans own words...an important piece of British and Boxing history...from the last of the Bare knuckle Champions and the first World Champion.

I personally have no idea matey, I have no interest in the history of boxing at all.........just watched a few bits and bats of the man talking about stuff on youtube and whatnot and he seem a stand up bloke.

Comes across as a bit old school and I like that.

Sort of off subject but came across a short old documentary about a boxer. Paul Sykes came up through watching other videos and I clicked it. Bloke seems an absolute nut case lol.

Paul sykes from wakefield? was a good few naughty rumours about his antics whilst locked up, re: knocking out and raping younger prisoners!!!!
