AKA-BRINDLE 879 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Share Posted September 27, 2014 regards books, four kings, about hagler/duran/leonard and hearns is a belter. just started reading "no middle ground" about the benn/eubank/watson match ups, aint far enough into it to give an opinion yet...Bare fists by bob mee is a good book on the days before gloved boxing, giving accounts from broughton and slack, right thru to sullivans fight with kilrain. great read for the history buffs! Yokel Bob Mee's book is a good'un... but its mostly stuff taken from Egans 'Boxiana'...i love reading about the old bare knuckle era...1790-1860s ...Jon Hurleys done a couple of good books from around that time about Cribb and Spring well worth a read...but if people want to read about a proper bare knuckle boxer...JEM MACE...FIFTY YEARS A FIGHTER...a cracking read written in the mans own words...an important piece of British and Boxing history...from the last of the Bare knuckle Champions and the first World Champion. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Swaffham (beeston) boy mace, not a million miles from where i'm sat. i'll stick that book on my "to read" list. Saw tibbsys book in waterstones a few weeks back, another i wouldn't mind a look at...
