ianrob 2
hi all was speaking to a chap today that says he goes ferreting at night an uses one off them little snap chem light things ont he ferrets collar wasnt too sure myself so has [NO TEXT TALK] else done it Christ sake, what next. Is he gonna put chem lights on the rabbits too, and on each of the holes. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Quote Link to post
stu_young 3
yea thats wat i was thinking but he was sayin he works alone so its handy seeing the fets pop up Quote Link to post
Crow 1
Have you seen those little miners lamps advertised on ebay? I know a chap who puts them on his hobs to ferret at night. He has illuminous nets too, although one night he was buggered because he left them in a dark drawer and they never 'charged' Quote Link to post
FERRETINGMOUCHER 1
we ended up doing the last bury when we was out ferreting yesterday in the dark as we lost the light really quickly and it was virtually impossible to see the polecats but the albino jill i got stuck out like a sore thumb lol iv seen it on a warrener DVD but wouldent fancy doing it meself end up losing nets and nit seeing rabbits and what your doing properly. Each to their own though. Quote Link to post
gibby 0
I can see it being a useful way to ferret those places that are "hard to do" during the day I seem to remember reading (probably on here) that its an old poachers trick. I think if your going to do it do it on a full moon or something so you can see what your doing. Or if your allowed to be there then use a lamp! One of the little snap lights attached to a collar somehow will do no harm if you can attach it without it being prone to snagging on things. I wont be trying it myself theres too much risk of losing rabbits or more importantly ferrets. But its been done plenty before if you fancy it then go for it. Quote Link to post
the fezz 44
me old mans done it back in his day , the used a collar with a bell on a moon light night , they had a albino ferret the only did it cause the there was a nice sett of burrows in front of the land owners house but he didnt want them to be mooching round the house ,but temptation got the better of them Quote Link to post
