Horsey Folk.....

Recommended Posts

Had the dugs out a walk earlier, usual route, I had passed a group on horses trekking round one of the fields about 8-9 of them going the opposite direction from me, this particular walk is a rough shrubby path fields either side. Anyway back to the point the dogs as always work the cover and enter a field on the left with any game that's flushed making a break through the field, so dogs put out a few bunnies and both lurchers have a wee run with the white bitch picking one up, it's at this point I notice the Trekkers coming along the path and I can hear them panicking because there's dogs loose, (they fine with stock) the white bitch is retrieving anyway but I call them iin and lead up the terrier (as she's a wee c**t) the two lurchers are at heal and I stand in to allow the horses past. About the 3rd woman in (they all female) she says "I don't understand why you allow that, I can't see what enjoyment the dogs get out of it!

I just calmly replied "probably a lot more than that horse does humphing your fat arse around" to which she replied "it's a pony!!" Before trotting away.

Usually there sound about controlling rabbits as they dig holes there little horses could trip with you must of got one on the dab mate

As I said the rest just nodded an acknowledgement as they passed, just the one munter deemed it necessary to pass comment may I add the farmer whom I have verbal permission from has signs on the private road saying that it is private and no horses allowed so if he's not wanting them on his road it's fair to say he's probably not wanting them in his fields either......

Trust me not all horse people are like that. My Mrs held the lamp while I shot a fox Monday night, and she spends most her spare time on horses, cracking reply though, I wish I had seen her face.

Oh I know, I have permission from a lady who shows ponies and loves a Boxing Day hunt.

The other strange thing about horsey people (my wife is one ) they have no sense of smell ! God forbid I have to use her motor , especially in the summer , the smell of horse piss is like a smack in the mouth .The various bits of horse kit , blankets , rugs her coats that have all come into contact with horse piss then put in the motor , allowed to ferment for a few hours , stink the fu*kout of the car.If you ask her what the smell is(you already know) she sticks her head in , takes a sniff , then says" I cant smell anything ."... :icon_eek:
