Blackbriar 8,569
Ok then thank you thats what i wanted to no :-) i wont shoot the cat. It damn well needs it tho its rotten. Im goin on the idea of vandal paint on the fense now so if it has got a home near by it can go make a mess on their property. If the fence will take it, nail some carpet gripper rod along the top - keeps human intruders out too ! 1 Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
A sub 12 ft/lb air rifle would easily take out a feral cat with a headshot within 30 yards...... and as for maximum size quarry, I'd go with hares, but within 30 yards again 2 Quote Link to post

j j m 6,540
i dont think its fair to try and take a fox out with a sub 12lb air rifle the chances of a humane clean kill are very slim Quote Link to post

RemyBolt 420
As has been said, check the General License and BASC Code of practice. More important than what's the biggest animal you can shoot, ask what animal are you skilled enough to shoot? If you are unable to get a clean shot on a rabbit, then you should not shoot a rabbit. If you were a skilled shot, you could happily take out rabbits. For anything bigger, you'd need to get a FAC. Many counties have different calibres for different animals. Where I live it's illegal to shoot a rabbit with a .223, and it's illegal to shoot a .22lr at a fox. Check with your local fire arms officer. I hassle mine loads, but he appreciates that I'm asking first before shooting. Quote Link to post

I have took out rabbits when I went with my mate years ago but his dad set the gun up etc, this is the first time I'm out on my own. I'm confident I can hit what I shoot but obviously sometimes it goes abit wrong. That's what a back up gun is for lol. I'm confident in my shooting, I been hitting the targets pretty well. Chris Harrison 21
Cheers all. Well today I have paperwork saying I can shoot on 3 fields not far from my house which I'm pleased about. I'm going up for a look later see what it's like. I no there's lots of pigeons up there in the day. Gonna buy some targets we can stick in the ground to have more distance practice while we are there Quote Link to post
