My First Air Rifle

Recommended Posts

hi all

bought my first gun today and so far im really pleased with it, its a SMK B19 .22

i went to a few gun shops and picked a few up but there was something on most of them i didnt like but i picked this up and it just felt, well "right"

its not to heavy but not light either, a few i picked up felt heavy near the front and i didnt like that but this feels equal weight all up the gun. great price to, i got the gun, scope, bag, tin of domed pellets and a knife all for 160 of the queens english pounds :)

went back to my mates to try it out. the scope isnt brilliant so i can see that being changed soon. the gun is awesome. got a ringed target, aimed for the centre and hit high and to the left, so abit of messing with the scope later i was grouping them in the 9 points circle. so then we got adventurous and hitting leaves, pegs and anything else smallish we could pin to the wooden board. my pellets destroyed a board 12/15mm thick. couldnt find my pellets but the board was stopping my mates. abit more scope messing and a change from shooting left handed to right handed i was hitting centre apart from abit of arm wobble and learning to breath right i was pretty accurate.

im yet to take this thing out hunting but pretty confident it will do its job :)

It'll do the job nicely! My boy has one in .22 also and he's only 8 and can hit a 1p sized spinner at 30yds with it.I've had experience with 5 smk 19s and they all shot rws superdomes perfectly! A lot of people turn their noses up at smk,but the 19s are in my opinion really good for the money.atb jw

The quality of the 'budget-end' rifles has increased enormously over the last few years. I know a couple of lads at my club who shoot SMK and Gamo's and we have 4 Stoeger owners (including me). I recently refurbed a B1 and gave it to my youngest stepson. He loves it and has the requisite amount of fun with it !

There's a lot to commend them and, for change out of a couple of hundred quid, you can't go wrong ! Lots of practise and be the best shot you can with what you've got !

Good luck and happy shooting, mate !

After a quick, what the f*ck, and having watched a 'tube video or two as well as reading more about the rifle, basically, nice one. Seems a purchase indeed and defiantly a 'gateway' rifle. (Watch your bank account deteriorate) I had a real old B2 back in the day, the first rifle I ever owned, aged 7, 30 quid from air gunner or an advert inside it. Shot starlings with it on the old mans allotment. Looking back, it was really shit. But they seem to have come on bounds, like I mean, bounds!

Keep us informed on your progress with it.

The hobby may take over and you'll soon out grow your rifle and your shooting skills will too, depending on how serious you might get into it, thus being a gateway in to the hobby of spending far to much on rifles that you don't need... 'want' seems to take precedence.

Ha. I'm not sure you like the fact I'm not a 100 fan v'man. I do like them, it's just it got a bit boring slapping our cocks over um. I know there good, very good, but so is every other pcp around the 500+ mark ;)

I'll probably give the pod a miss. For now. Need to get the penniz together first for the rifle itself.
