The one 8,482
I polish mine then a layer of dubbin . you can also get a waterproof spray from sports direct for camping i hit the boots with that a couple of times over the summer
cragman 2,770
Grangers G-Wax does me. Apply after EVERY outing with a rag and wipe off excess. If the boots are wet let them dry naturally and apply the wax when the boots are damp. Do the seams well.
beast 1,884
agree with cragman, wax is better than dubbin as the dubbin can be too thick and clog the pores which allow a boot to breathe. if you warm the wax slightly before use it will penetrate better. and yes, the seams are very important, its possible for the stitching to rot and the boots fall apart even though the leather is sound. we always used to put on a new pair of boots and stand in a bucket of water until they were saturated then walk in them till they were nearly dry then let them dry out slowly, this made them shape to the shape of your foot but its not necessary with modern boots after wearing a boot, clean it thoroughly with a soft cloth and water as any particles of dirt will damage the leather if they get rubbed in with the polish. let the boots dry SLOWLY, NOT by a radiator as this will make them crack. wax them and let this penetrate for a few hours, add extra coats until they do not feel at all dry to the touch. after every use, wipe clean and wax when dry. Wildling 520
I've used Dubbin for ages and can't say that I've ever had any issues with it as long as you remove any dirt before application and like the wax wipe off any excess.
