Shifts

Recommended Posts

Never done 3 shift pattern & hope I never do. I done constant nights for 3.5yrs & loved it til I had a bit bother with a c**t of a foreman then had to go on 2wks days/2wks nights. Never used to struggle on nights but do a little bit now. They reckon its better to stick to a set shift than alternating anything else. I'm now doing 1wk days/2wks nights which is better for me as less dayshift which I hate, rather do permanent nights as I sleep better. Theres lads do the 3 shift pattern at work & they all hate it

I used to work rotating shifts, lates, earlies, nights= and it really knocks you out. Took me about a year before i could actually feel my bodyclock getting back on track. Shifts cause many medical pr

Have to agree, never done shifts, but I have done 12 hours days or more sometimes.....physical work......people used to say to me 'ah, but it keeps you fit'......fcuk off it sucks the life out of you!

Im up At 4 every morning, walk dog then set off to work, ride down the mine at 5:30 then back out at 1:30, not a bad shift really, but it's hard work down there and very hot, looking to get took on soon, then I will be doing rather 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts or week of each, front nights backs !!

My shifts are all over the place. You can do 0900 - 1930, then next day you're in at 0730 - 1700, next day you're back on the later shift and so on. And we rarely get two days off together. I had 18 days holiday went back one day then they gave me a day off, then put me in for 7 in a row.....

Don't work shifts anymore but did for over ten years. Nightshift is okay once you get into a regular pattern. It's sh!t in winter though, if you're like me and go to bed soon as you get home then in Dec/Jan you see very little daylight.

Done a few backshifts when I was younger, absolutely hated it...used to do four til half twelve. I'd find myself watching the clock all day, basically just waiting to go to work, and by the time you get back there's nowt to do....pubs shut etc. Big bonus came in the winter months when you could be out with the lamp straight from work and not have to be up early in the morning for work

I don't know how people do nights, 12 hour days no bother in small doses. done a 24hr shift once off the back of 4 12 hour shifts :boredom: feck that.

had a mate who was telling the other mate he's doing 4 on 4 off to which he replied "im not stupid, sure theres only 7 days in a week"
