Im up At 4 every morning, walk dog then set off to work, ride down the mine at 5:30 then back out at 1:30, not a bad shift really, but it's hard work down there and very hot, looking to get took on soon, then I will be doing rather 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts or week of each, front nights backs !!

I used to do a three shift pattern afternoons then double back to mornings and end the 7 days on nights, then two days off. Then start again what ever shift landed on a Friday you did for 3 days. One week end off a month.

Done both of these shift patterns Bob in a factory,the four on four off is a piece of piss the only downside if its a 7day operation you will work a lot of weekends,we hardly ever seemed to get a full weekend off.The upside is lots of time off in the week when everyone else is in work Sleep wise I never slept well on nights and would never do them again :censored: hated them.The three shift pattern youre on now was changed as production hit an all time low,month in month out,as everyone was tired of constantly being in work due to the shorter shifts,I remember one Christmas on that shift pattern the firm give out coulouring in pictures for the staffs kids to do,the best one winning a prize.....the pictures came back with captions like "no we wont see daddy this Christmas he works at f***ing Proctor and Gamble" They didn't like it much

Thanks for the replys i dont mind working weekends the system we are on the now i get a full weekend off every three months i like days off during the week easier to get permission for shooting and ferreting .I hate nightshifts my world end when im on nights i tried taking nightall the herbal sleeping pills but im still up every two hours . but looking on the bright side 4 on 4 off and holidays i wont be at work so much

12 hrs is a breeze as well Bob. Once you start you`ll wonder what the fuss was.

 

I work 14, 12hr nights then come home, it takes me a week to turn back round, now that's a killer. Quicker I can escape that the better.

For the last ten years I've done

2 days, 2 nights , 3 afters and 2 off

2 days , 3 nights 2 afters, and 2 off

3 days, 2 nights , 2 afters and 10 off

 

Love these shifts plenty of time to get out midweek when no one about

I did eight months of mixed day / night shifts and it took about a year to get my sleeping pattern back when i got a proper job. I think my dad was right when he said " nights is for sleeping, and popping pheasants. "

i do 1 week on and 1 off. week on is 6 x 12hr and 1 x 11hr always nights. done 8 years of nights and it suits ok. not exactly my dream situation, but better than the dole.

Night shifts always paid more money and so they should. Who in their right mind would work nights for the same money as days.Those desprate for work and being fuked over by employment agencys.

Mate, 12hrs 4 on 4 off is THE best sift pattern going. Its the dogs gonads, seriously. SO MUCH time off.
