I've just had these two done of one if my whippets. I've got a couple of others which i will put up later on.

I reckon they are all good.

 

Everyone who draws or paints, be it watercolour, oils, acrylics etc, will have different styles and differing skill levels. If the person commissioning the painting or drawing is happy with the result, it doesn't matter what others think.

Anyone can take a jpg file along to one of these printing companies, or even do it online, and get the photo printed onto canvas or whatever medium they choose, with whatever digital remastering they want done, but IMO it is much more intimate if done by hand.

 

I have recently got into learning to paint in oils, and done a few dog pictures, and I did an oil painting about a week ago, of the wife's mate's lap dog, a Russell x Chihuahua, a cracking little fellow, and even though IMO it was a bit (lot) rough, when I emailed her the file she was amazed at the likeness.

 

I think the key to getting the character of the dog is a 'good' reference photo, as you can't accurately put in what you can't see in the first place.

I like them Alex, they look like art, with artistic licence.

 

Those first two are as near as I've seen to Martin Knowlden's art in the old Plummer books, always loved his stuff....

Wrong photo. That was one that a patient I cared for did for me as a gift when he left the ward. It is all drawn with a Bic biro his drawings are brilliant

Ossie, they are about as close to the original as you'll ever see, that artist has some talent. Though I'd bet she didn't do that Betty Boop!

They are outstanding you can't teach skills like that. It would be useful to source someone who has simular talent and ask them if they would advertise on here. They could make a living from it
