Wildling 520
I think the peace process could have been put into motion decades before it began, politicians here made a bad situation worse without a doubt, and stalled on peace. though in his latter years he did mellow and we all saw a better side to him if you will. people need to move forward.thats true norseman in the end he only help put together what he wrecked in the 70s I agree with that but I also think it wasn't helped by the likes of Adams or Mcguinness back in the day, all of them will have to meet their maker........................... WILF 46,786
It runs deep and outsiders will always find it hard to understand.......the gun seems to be going out of Irish politics thankfully now it seems My bet is that most of the violence still going has more to do with criminality than sectarian bad blood........that bad blood will be years in the clearing mind you, but when the young folk who have broader horizons become the adults hopefully all those men of the gun will just be long dead bad memories.

WILF 46,786
I was in the republic for the day yesterday and funny enough the subject of the peace process and the violence came up........the lad I was cutting about with just thought all the violence was bollocks and I am willing to bet most folk are like that. It's been going on what? 400 years?........sections of both sides have blood on their hands. As an Englishman it stuck in my throat to see Gerry and Martin getting treated like statesmen but the bottom line is, if it saves innocent lives from Republican and Loyalist nutcases then I will just have to get over myself and realise it's worth it. Long May peace linger in a great country with great people.
