Personally I'm of the opinion there's too many humans anyway and animal rescues are only helping the individual animal rather than the cause of the problem so I always direct my charity towards environmental stuff.

 

Back on topic, the kid who did this is going to get it whatever happens. There's that many people up in arms about it, one of them is bound to be willing and able to give him what he deserves whether the law does anything or not.
