trenchfoot 4,243
Ronseal dogs. They are exactly what it says on the tin. Nothing more or less. Collie grey hybrids of various, but known fractions. Hancocks business is selling pups. Not my thing. poorly fed and unsocialised. But how many folk have seen a well raised and entered dog from these kennels, in the field? As knockabout lurchers, they seem to do okay. Plummers hype made them out to be "fabulous". but most know different. If 20% go on to do a bloody good working job for their owners, thats not much different to the success ratio of some of the best coursing litters. Its just that when you breed hundreds of pups a year, and sell 'em on to all and sundry, most folk notice the % that dont make the grade. 4 Quote Link to post

But if coursing bred Lurchers where used as knockabout Lurchers would the success levels be as low?or in fact an average home bred lurcher ,I have no problem with them in themselves just the constant breeding of dogs kept in poor conditions and unsocialised, and then people rating them as something a cut above. I'm not sure about ronseal,it's guaranteed to work lol 1 Quote Link to post

Dogs for jobs. These days, i don't think people rate hancock dogs as a cut above. many of Hancocks pups have issues due to their early days, but most can be sorted out. but not everybody is prepared to go to those lengths. The Ronseal guarantee is about breeding percentage, nothing else Quote Link to post
Dewclaw69 484
as said above with a hancock dog you know exactly whats in the breeding and will have a fair idea of the size it will make. there's no guarantees with a hancock dog or any other for that matter. an old mate of mine bought one of his and it made the best dog i've ever seen. rabbit, hare and fox. but the lad knew his dogs and put some real time into it. if the rearing and socialisation is an issue then don't go for a 4 month old pup thats been knocking round the kennels. get an order in and collect it at 8 weeks. 2 Quote Link to post
