I had a Doberman x grab my dog about 18 months back I gave me the steel toe caps this woman appeared out of nowhere by the river bank saying her dog was muzzled to be fair he had a string thing on his mouth but he had my dog pinned and he was covered in white foam , it got a bit ratty she threatened to take the muzzle off the dog and set it upon me so I picked up a rock and told her id smash her face if she attempted to remove the string she screamed got onto the phone to police I said ill wait here for them to come the dog was about 8 or 9 stone she walked off and I went the other way Runcorn/Cheshire true story

Always a worry for anyone with a pup. .adult lurchers tend to be able to look after themselves or outrun the attacker. .it's walking the terriers that worries me. .I've got a border bitch here great with other dogs but a couple of times I've had to pick her up sharpish to save her from being bitten or worse..iv also had a Russell type dog who couldn't be trusted with other dogs so he was always on the lead unless out working.

glad the pups ok anyway gafer. Atb sesku

Has anyone ever encountered an older dog being protective of a much younger dog when other strange dogs approach?

I've never seen it before now but that seems to be the case with mine at the moment. Had a few dogs approach and alf has sheparded em away, hackles raised and generally trying to look the part(which he isn't).

Some drug dealing paki let his bull mastif thing loose at my young pup. The pup was off lead, and barked at his dog. "get that thing on a lead before mine kills it". I called the pup back, and halfway back, she turned and barked at him, so he slipped his dog. 100lbs + vs 30lbs should have been no physical contest. Bloody thing was getting more wound up because every time it lunged at the pup she jumped over it and bit its arse. before I could get there, my old collie cross bitch appeared flat out from the woods and hit this thing like a train. Rolled it over, ragged it by the throat as it beetled around. I called her and she came back to heel along with the pup. Bull mastiff runs back to his owner with its tail between its legs. I shouted, "better get that back on a lead, before mine kills it". look on his face was priceless
