brother fox 1
Probably over 90% of Jack Russells in Australia carry some percentage of Dachshund or Corgi blood in their makeup and they seem to go alright. Quote Link to post
COMPO 54
Dont get a show bred daschund....you might as well get a dalmation Get a Teckel (thats the original continental name- it was badly translated to daschund by victorian dog breeders) working bred, they are used for tracking wounded game (deers etc..) used in small packs on rabbits and also used underground like terriers, i know in parts of france they are used to drive wild boar out i have a teckel x border terrier, (all she got from the border was slightly longer legs) she works cover, is used when i go shooting and ferreting and has gone to ground (not that i wanted her to when she did ) They make a lot of noise (they are hounds) and make a lot of noise on a scent whether that is above or below ground pics of my little hound are on my website below in my signature Edited October 20, 2007 by COMPO Quote Link to post

Theay aren't fast dogs but you will have to be fit to stay with them but the upside to this is they will find quarry they very rarley fail. would it go down a fox hole and bolt it with its voice or would it punch on and id have to get a shovle will it go through the black berriers and thick shite looking for game would it retrieve would it swim would it sit on a chian or in a pen at home and not bark stupidly (live in suburb) would it hunt in a pack happily or are they an aggresive dog Yes it is likely it will go to ground and it may bay or it may be hard that'll be down to the individual dog. They are used a lot in Europe for duck shooting so yes they can swim and retrieve. As for dogs on chains that's not for Teckels I've got one that barks in kennels but the others don't. No they are not aggressive they are extremely affectionatte and crave human attention. They hunt and live as a pack. The choice is yours at the end of the day they are certainly capable of everything you want and also everything you don't want so it would be unfair on the dog to forget that. My life with Teckels is simple as I don't ask a lot from them as long as they get out and hunt I'm happy................. Quote Link to post
