That can't be right surely? Someone comes onto your property and the dog you have to protect the place bites them and your in the wrong for it? Don't have a gaurd dog myself but if I had a guard dog and it didnt do its job it'll be culled. Is a difference between a out of control dog terrorising the public and a dog doing its job. Guess if you buy a guard dog you also better have kenny noyes lawyers number handy lol.

This is right and i think they are already using it as my mother in laws German Shepard was in the house when a postal worker came into the back garden which has beware of the dog signs etc and is bolted, came through and the dog nailed her in the garden a kept hold until my farther in law came out he let go of the women on the 1st command. He made a mess of the woman's arm. It went to court and they was given a £100 fine and the dog put on a warning if it does it again it will have to be destroyed

yeh people sometimes make it worse how they react when dogs fight, lets face it most times it just a bit of fur ripped and noise from dogs, unless its really over matched by another big 'un on a little'un or if a dog goes at pup , then you got intervene but apart from that most dogs sort it out very quick with just quick scuffle .!

I can understand if a dogs running loose and bites some one then yes something should be dun but a dog on private land protecting it's territory there should be no law stating your dog can't bite a intruder they shouldn't be there in the first place.

Wow that's aload of bollocks, so basically now a guard dog is abit pointless as you'll be the one getting in shit for it? I understand a dog being out of control and attacking someone when off the lead in a field or something. A dog brought to guard doing its job in the home is bollocks though.

so if a girl with her pet walks past your place her dog is on a lead when your big mutt flys out the gate and starts fighting with the little dog and you reckon thats ok because its a dog your mutts attacked, can only shake my head in disbelief.

As far as i was aware if your dog/s were in a secure area and CANNOT get out ,its signed with warnings etc and somebody enters unlawfully then its there fault.If on the other hand the dog is free to leave that area and mix with Joe public then you are liable.I for one will not be changing my ways my fence is high and my gate is always locked and i have the only key! If you wanna come in uninvited then you takes your chance iam afraid but you will get bitten,that's why i have the bloody dogs!!

I know pal also the woman is entitled to claim compensation aswell for her own stupidity and being too lazy to use the front door
