Me , Toma, And The Two Sisters

Recommended Posts

Well i tried to get out the other night but it started p*ssing down so sacked it and came home but got out last night i gave Toma a buzz to ask if he wanted to tag along he said yes and i sorted the gear out and we set off.

So with the two sisters(raider single shot and the raider ten shot) set up and zero,d off we went to the paddocks where a rabbit jumped out from the fence line so down on one knee and with the rifle resting on the fence i let a jsb go and over it went not even a kick first one in the bag .

We then went int one of the fields and layed up a nice one jumped out but as i lined the shot up it spotted us and off it went and the next did the same i was thinking to my self we need to move when i heard Tomas rifle go off what did you do there as i thought he had set it off by accident,iv just shot a rabbit and with that he jumped up and retrieved it it only had to be ten yards away and i did not see it (i think i need to go to speck savers).

Two in the bag, we lay there for a while longer then the heavens opened up so we went back to the car Toma swinging his prize as we went it was his first big rabbit so he was buzzing after some refreshments(peck chop pork sarnies and plenty of chocolate)off we went again the rain had stopped we headed for the park where there were two sitting but as we got to with in range they got spooked and took off .

we headed off into the big field and i flicked the lamp on and lit a pair of eye,s up at about 80 yards so off i went got with in range and it was still sitting i set the raider up and went prone to tack the shot but i had not saw the ground mist coming up behind me and when i put the scope to me eye all i could see was the red beam coming back at me red out but its eye was just visible so i took the shot and missed.

It ran then stopped then ran and stopped but as i was faffing on trying to get another pellet out of my pocket it took off and this time did not stop . Some times it pays to have a multy shot as i stood up another came out to play but i missed that to deffo need to go to speck savers lol.

The ground mist was coming in fast and we could not see a thing so we headed back to the paddocks where a nice one was sitting i lit it up but all it did was take one look at us and kept on eating its supper so i went prone again and sent it a side dish of lead in the form of a jsb 15,89 and it keeled over and lay dead or so i thought , as i picked it up it went mental so a quick jab to the back of its neck put it to sleep.

I checked where i had aimed and the pellet had hit home in the kill zone so it must have been its nerves as when i gutted it and put it down it was still moving like little tremors running through it body we then went back for some more refreshments i did hit another two but lost one in a ditch and one big fecker in the long grass as this field is surrounded by an electric fence apart from the other side of the barn so i had to take my eye off it but when i got into the field could i feck find it spent over half an hour looking for it ,,,,O WELL MR FOX WILL HAVE IT FOR SUPPER .

So all in all me Toma and the two sisters had a good night.

Mac. How do you get rid of that kinda 'film' that coats the rabbits carcass after taking its coat off? I'm not sure I'm explaining it we'll, but when cleaning the rabbit under the tap, and it only really becomes apparent when under water, I find its rather annoying and can be pulled off the meat... It's, i guess, like a oily clear film. Or don't you worry about it? I only ask you as you post some well skinned images and thought you might get it too.

It doesn't worry me when in the oven like, but is it an extra layer to the fur I should look for when skinning?

Nice one.

I no what you mean mate but like you say,d it dose not bother me some times when your washing them the water gets under it and plebs up but when cooking them the film just evaporates as like you have say,d its very thin i don't try to pull it off , just leave it Rez hope this helps atvbmac :thumbs::thumbs:

You can sometimes get your knife under it and remove the worst of it but not always, its no problem tho if when you brown the meat before cooking brown it slowly I find oil and water so it sort of bubble Fry's, and if slow cooked after its more tender than chicken,
