trappa 518
At £480 owed im guessing you will have done around a weeks work on his farm, there or thereabouts. If youve done a good job then you cant let him get away with this. Have you spoken to him, found out what his issues are and why he wont pay? Only you and him will know whether you did a good job or not. Were you charging by the hour and maybe the both of you had differing ideas of how long it would take? If your trapping wasnt as good as usual you may need to swallow your knob and maybe offer to round it down to an agreed sum or as an earlier post said, offer the option of paying monthly. £480 is too big to let him off with it but driving 20 miles to moan at him will only cost you more in the long run. Small claims court is an option if youve got a signed contract. Personally, if i had done a good job and felt the money was deserved by me i would be finding a way to somehow to get such a sum back, legal or otherwise. Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,694
Only needed to mention it once "thank goodness" but I had a guy I did a wasp nest for, after I'd zapped it he said what if I said I can't pay now? I just smiled and said no worries, you will now be placed on the Cornwall pest controller black list as a non payer, and then if in a week ir so you have a lice, bed bug and flea infestation of biblical proportions, the only ones who'll come out will be a certain national who will take at least £250 off your card before they even put the phone down. To which he said I'm only joking, I said I'm not! 2 Quote Link to post

shropshire mole 190
First time I have trapped moles for this farmer, he found me, and wanted me to catch his moles 53 moles caught, happy as larry, over the moon, I even gave him a couple of traps. Have spoken, he acknowledges he has the bill, maybe his paper work leaves a lot to be desired? I will be visiting over the next 2 days, maybe a visit and standing on his doorstep will rectify the situation. Will let you know Quote Link to post

nod 285
Most farmers this way pay end of following month. So if you finished job now you won't get your money till end october Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
This particular farmer, its been nearly 4 months. Well I went to the farm yesterday, unannounced, he was in, his first words were "You have come for some money"!! Yes I said in a stern but polite way. It apparently was his Dad that signs the cheques, could be true several farmers I go to, I have to write the cheque and they sign. His Dad, who lives at another farm, was not there when I called, so left a polite note (really) He phoned me today, arranged to meet and gave me a cheque for the full amount. Personal contact, I think is the key, letters and phone calls can go unanswered, but a visit did the trick, this time. A happy End 1 Quote Link to post
