I have sought out plenty of deer myself......up and down the UK..... All i was saying is judge with your own eyes, use your own dog as a gauge...then you have a good idea as to the speed of the individual deer.... no need for the nastiness..... Good Hunting....JD Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
JD, I have gauged there speed with my own eyes its my opinion and a scientific fact that red deer are faster. I would not comment on something I have not seen! Johno if I was being nasty you would know. Quote Link to post
Guest artic monkey
I totally agree with JD iVE SEEN ALOT OF LADS WITH DOGS (POACHING) DURING THE DAY TRY AND RUN THEIR DOGS ON THE CHINESE. IM AFRAID TO SAY HOW POOR THEIR DOGS LOOKED A COUPLE OF QUICK FAST JINKS FROM THE DEER AND ITS ALL OVER FOR THE DOGS!! Quote Link to post
workindogz 0
fully mature chinese are rockets and jink like hares and can run for a good km with out slowing down a bit but i was told a fallow was the fastest wild uk mammal? but who knows very raley would you get a perfect run with no interuptions from ditches or hedges so even a munty can give you the slip sometimes! i would say it was down to the individual deer and its condition Quote Link to post
Guest artic monkey
WELL SAID SON TOO TRUE TOO TRUE!! Quote Link to post
baz 464
who cares which is fastest as long as the dog you slip on it is fast enough to drop it Quote Link to post
Guest artic monkey
EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOGS ARE CAPABLE OF DOING. I FOR ONE DO NOT RUN MY DOGS ON DEER ANYMORE, BUT WHEN I DID I FOUND THAT ROE WERE MUCH EASIER THAN THE CHINESE. PEOPLE UNDERESTIMATE THEM, BUT THEY ARE CLEVER, POWERFULL AND HAVE GOT PLENTY OF SPEED AND STAMINA WHICH OTHER DEER LACK. Quote Link to post
luke 2
those internet lists of the fastest land mamals are a load of shite if a hare runs at the same speed as a greyhound how the feck can a greyhound give it a hundred yards law and turn it with in 400 yards Quote Link to post
boris b 1
get a decent dog day or night a cwd is not the challenge you lads are making it out to be in my humble opinion , ive not got fast dogs by a country mile but cwd will go down day or night roe is a different kettle of fish they have gears and stamina . if youve a decent hare dog that will take deer you will mop up cwd any time of day or year Quote Link to post
juckler123 707
Reds are very deceptive when running theyve an incredible stride when they want to turn it on, myself id have thought roe over a short distance then red but to me the fastest deer is always the one with a dog up its arse Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
fallow are the fastest Quote Link to post
