Ive had this discussion before with different folk, and always thought it was either the brown hare or the Roe deer. But while on holiday in Ireland this year, i was reading the guiness book of records. It was on a shelf at the cottage we were staying at. Anyway it stated that the fastest british land mammal was the roe deer. It was the 1985 edition, so i think its the roe and after running and catching all species of deer except sika. I would have to agree that they are definately quicker than Red,fallow, chinese and muntjac.cheers wex

Roe are our fastest british land mammal FACT :notworthy: even faster than the hare so that pisses on alot of lads bonfires  Now IMO the big deer can shift in top gear but are sluggish off the mark and as for cwd being easy well thats a matter of opinion :whistling:

Looks like the chaps at the guiness book of records were telling porkies. Having said that, from experience i have found the roe to be far quicker than red. The roe is easier to stop, but far quicker of the mark and in full stretch. JMHOcheers wex.
