Popular Post fireman 11,038
Went to a farm to do some ratting today but we didn't get to that bit so a few pics of the day anyway,a day going back in time in out back suffolk and a day was had on top of a hay stack doing it old school with pitch fork and blisters to prove it , Getting the threshing machine set up and the stack to be threshed. This is a bailer of sorts as due to the straw going for thatching it doesn't pack it tight more bundles it. Chocks are used both on the thresher and the bailer and wooden wedges are hammered in to tighten them up,the belt hasn't been put on yet. A few rat runs and holes in the stack so was looking forward to some good sport. Fence put up to put the favour on the dogs side and a pipe put in for if a good few bolt at once they dive in there works really well The power unit for the day and belive it or not it was sat in a hedge and fired up first try, aaar the wonder of easy start and who needs tryes Belt on and just about there Health and safety eat your heart out And that's as far down as we got and the good bit was just about to start as 4 rats did bolt out about then and it's when it gets to there and lower that the action starts as the pitch forkers walking about force a few out then then once the stacks at 3 foot odd they will bolt regular, this stack is 2 years old and i recon would have held 200 + rats going on previous visits, but we'll be back soon. few other pics of the day. How's that for a old school field set out so the wind can dry the sheaves and all done by hand Hope you enjoyed the pics .
