Taggy123 59
I think its also what you will be doing the majority of. If your just doing the odd ferreting session now and again you will bring a pup on lamping and vice versa. Atb taggy Quote Link to post

Atb taggy true most my hunting is night time so lamping for me 1st, but both my dogs will mark a berry in the day if it holds a rabbit, and my young dog just followed the older one in the day ,so no prob, but my young dog been out day+night from the day it had all its jabs 10 week old Quote Link to post
cantona 310
Thing I like about the lamp, it allows a dog to make a few mistakes on a run.. Bolted rabbits can be hard.. I read a Paul Dooley blog the other day.. It was about training a dog, not to mouth rabbits in the nets.. It Was very interesting and made me think where i had been going wrong Do you remember where you read it? I could do with reading that mate Quote Link to post

To be honest I had never heard of him till last year. Never read EDRD and can count on my hands how many Countrymans weekly I have bought.. I got one of his books off a lad on Moochers and then googled him.. He talks some sense and definately is the genuine mccoy. You will like his stuff mate. The blog just a taster - the books are spot on.. Don't know of he is on here or not Quote Link to post

Mooching Man 78
I like to get a young dog out doing a bit of ferreting at around 6 months before going on the lamp. But before that I also like to get pup out as soon as possible with the air rifle to further retrieve training. 1 Quote Link to post

weasle 1,119
Pups should be out and about with ferrets from a early age,They know countryside, rabbits, how to behave ect, long before there ready for lamping. If you have a pup thats old enough for lamping that hasn't been out ferreting yet you've missed a trick in my opinion. 2 Quote Link to post
