neil cooney 10,416
I'd gladly pay a fiver a tripe nowadays as all my local slaughter houses now bleach them, cook them and send them off to Poland. That and the fact that they're not allowed to sell it anymore.

killbilly 17
We had a horse abbatoir down the road up until the horse meat scandal last year. Unfortunatly its been shut since and the the owner doesn't know when he'll be back in business, which is a shame since he used to keep me and the local mounted pack in offal year round. TOPPER 1,809
the rules have got very tight regarding what abattoirs can sell and who to, the best thing to do is apply for a cert from the animal health people in your area and they can issue you a cert to get tripe etc

THE GENERAL 1,982
Can get it no problem worked in 2 separate local abbatoirs for 10+ years sold the doggie men the cows bellys at £1 each or 10 sheep bellys for £1. It's not openly allowed to be sold to the public now because of strict regulation and the companies could be liable for fines and prosecution if caught so most generally don't go there and have over uses for them that benefits them just as much if not with less hassle. It boils down to the old scenario, it's not what you know it's who you know. I also know a greyhound owner that sells 6lb bags for £1.50. Prefer the beef and chicken myself to be honest, would only feed the tripe on an odd occasion for a change in diet for variety reasons if any. alun1960 234
AB117 bit of a pain to sort but allows you to buy tripe no hassle.
