Few Photos Of My Borders Working

Recommended Posts

Jossa yours is the first I've seen on here that shows the marks of its trade. I've heard lads saying the borders are either too hard or useless, that its difficult to get a sensible dog. If a terrier works close it'll take stick, if its worked regular then all the more so. Its been said that the borders muzzle hair masks the marks but a mate had a rough dog seeing regular work & the hair didnt grow because of it. Nice to see/ hear borders are still working though

Corkyjohn, maybe reason you dont see marked up borders on here is the people that have them have more cop than to put up pics of marked up terriers. Why lads feel the need to do so is beyond me,if your dog is working well and does the buisness there,s no need to let the whole world know, just more ammo for the anti,s.

I've been looking at this argument for many years now and IMO it's those that enjoy ratting and bushing that seem to take the most offence and cause the most argument . It's like they're trying to te

You having a pop at me hear dillydog? as i'm the one who's posted the border ratting.ffs get a grip what's all that about, same old chestnut with the likes of yourself, why worry about what other folk do with there dogs .if some one has a chosen sport they like to do with there dogs whether it be bushing ,ratting or digging or all good luck to them.I personally don't work borders and probably never will but what this thread has shown is that they can still be good versatile little terriers when worked by the right lads. i'm not even going to get into what a working terrier should be as that subject has been done so many times it just borse the f..k out of me,atb keith j

Or maybe the majority don't actually see regular earth work eh? I know what you're getting at fatman but theres a difference between marked up & smashed. Terrier work is still legal & nothing to be ashamed of. Its about time folk realised that the anti's are here for good until everything we do is banned or restricted. Sure the poster of the photo knows whats acceptable or not, you'll never change the dickheads who post facebook videos though & they'll be the ones who do for our hunting

Well said. To many people think it's great putting marked up dogs like the compitition who's dog has the most scars. It doesn't get you praise it gets you a chap at the door. Edited to say I am not classing you in that group joss a at all. You seem a decent guy. Edited by obi2

Wasn't having a pop at any one in particular.

If someone's dull enough to put a picture of a fox and his terriers these days then put a few pics of a dig and a story to go with it. A fox in a picture could of been found by the side of the road.

And IMO killing a poxy few rats does not make a terrier a worker, it may put a string on his bow but a worker...not to me

Your right dilly dog, killing a few poxy rats don't make a worker,Same as digging a fox now and then don't make them a earth dog.but when you rat your dogs regular and dogs kill in number or a dog is expected to use nose and have to work situations out' it's working or flush rabbits from thick cover it's working,IMO. Not earth dogs but working all the same.but like ive said this topic has run it's course many a time so that's all i have to say on that.I do though look forward to seeing some pics of your digs and reading the story's behind them,as you've had your ten bobs worth on this topic hopefully your ego won't get in the way of you post's,ATB and happy hunting,Keith j.

well that's the biggest load of shit I have heard , how is a terrier killing rats not working I suppose when you work a terrier on a rat the dog is laying on the settee while you throw soft cuddly rats in its mouth . If people want to work there dogs on rats or fox fair to them I work mine on both regular and no I didn't drive along the road a pik the fox up to take a pik with . And in my middle photo we had a 3 ft dig just under Neath were I was but I'm not gonna stand ther alday taking photos of holes to make argumentative people feel better . And also people shouldn't put other people dogs down it s pathetic . Just thought I would put a few old photos up for people to look at but once again saddos are slagging photos off . Well if it makes you feel better every one who work s rats isn't worthy of calling ther terrier a worker well wrong rats foxes all work as far as I'm concerned . Well that's just my view . Atb

If a terrier is hunting and killing rats then it's working ... If a terrier is bushing out rabbits then it's working ... It's classed as a working dog ... There is a difference between that and a digging dog ........

I don't know owt about lurchers but how can you compare killing rats to earth work. If I have to explain then you've never had a true WORKING terrier.

I've had lots of good days out ratting, I take it for what it is "a bit of fun", each to their own.

Good luck ratting, and have fun whatever you do.

Oh believe me I have had plenty of good WORKING terriers that's why I know the difference between a working dog and a digging dog ... If a dog is hunting and killing game no matter what that game is the dog is WORKING ... That doesn't make it a DIGGING dog but it's still a working dog ........
