Squirrel_Basher 17,100
A recent trip up to foxhunters ground in the borders proved that every fox shot here is well earned .We lamped for 3 nights before seeing a fox ,althougfh a few roe put in an appearance Foxy took me to a farm he has that hasnt been lamped for a while so hopes were high .Got there in day light so made a stand overlooking a gorse bank [withies !]The scenery here was breathtaking, nothing like that in Wiltshire ! .I had a squeak and a fox appeared 20 yards to my left but saw me before i could spin the rifle round .It reappeared on the bankopposite at about 120 yards approx' and i missed it cleanly Darkness was on us before we had another look round and i got to see or rather experience some truly energy sapping hills .A fox was seen over a dry stone wall and a squeak from foxy saw it bounding in to 30 yards .No mistake this time and rolled over my first ever scottish fox ,a small vixen .A bit further around and over more hills ,we saw another which obliged and ran in to a squeak .A shot off foxys shoulder missed completely .Foxy stopped it at about 50 yards with a shout and i duly missed that as well It wasnt all doom and gloom on the shooting front and i made up for it later ,but that as they say is another story Quote Link to post

FOXHUNTER 5,021
We had a good bit of craic We saw plenty of wildlife including about a dozen red squirrels , an otter , peregrine , roe deer and fallow deer . Shame that fallow buck appeared on last light and all we heard was a loud belch. Never mind we got to see some lovely countryside and wildlife with good weather Quote Link to post
