With Dagenham Fords up the road it was Ford or nothing round here ......first car i legally owned was bought as a signing on fee by my old boxing manager,that and 6 months rent on the first house id

ford escort mark 1 about 1986 it was rarely legal and got to the point I just used to pull over when ever I passed a police car before they even moved  

Had loads of old cars bought to rally about the old bing, A35's and the like.( wish I had them now) First car I had legal on the road was a 1972 mini pickup which I got as an mot failure for a bottle

@Gnasher - that is a quality motor - be worth some money now ! (Is that Bodie on the back seat ?)

 

Bodie & Doyle had the " S " i think this one was a Ghia if i remember right......only had it about a year anyway till it was somewhat removed from my care :D

 

Its mad the prices some of them old Fords go for these days is right.

After I got rid of the Escort, I had a 'orange' Capri with black vinyl roof, just the basic 1600, steering got a bit light though if you went over 80 mph... lots of room around that engine for the wind to get under the bonnet. It had just had a respray before I got it, f*cking thing was rotten as a pear :laugh:

1965 Mk 1 Cortina in 1975. Car was £95, insurance £91 ;)

That escort cost me £325 it was £600 to insure, my girl will be driving next year ( if she passes) what will that cost me I wonder?? Couple of grand fir first time insurance now ain't it?

A mark 1 escort that cost me £30 I hand painted it in black coach paint which was great until the hight of summer as the windows wouldn't go down ... It was like driving a mobile cooker ... 30 years ago ... Time flyes ...........

Sky blue Opel Ascona. 24ish years ago.

Looked at buying an old Fordy a couple of years ago.... MkI/II Escort or Capri until I realised I'd need a 2nd fcukin mortgage! I remember when you could pick them up for <£100 taxed & MOT'd
