Unfortunately a lot of English are sick of hearing how England holds the Scottish back.   This vote has done nothing but fracture the union and Scotland.

I'm absolutely disgusted at the fighting in George square Glasgow yesterday, the whole of Scotland were given a choice and the choice was made, no one is any less a scot for voting no and no one is mo

I cant believe there are all these pages arguing who does this and who said that, at the end of the day either vote yes or no on the 18th, there is absolutely no need for all this hostility over it. J

So BH Scots based in England can't vote on their

Country's future

But Germans and Muslims ect living in Scotland can vote ?

Madness

Madness

They called it Madness lol

Yup, and the Scottish regiments will be the building blocks of the SDF....... the creation of which the Scots serving in the Guards at least will not have had a say in. Of course post independace the Scottish troops do not have to serve in the SDF, they can continue to serve in the British military, though I imagine further redundancies will have to be made as the MOD budget drops with GDP. But nonetheless the Scottish regiments will be the foundation of the SDF, you'd think they'd get their say in matters.

What is this dynamic economy the Salmond talks about.

More that half the Scottish population work for the public sector.

He talks about it becoming some kind of Norway, before that Iceland. Well Iceland would be a better comparison due to how they would have bankrupted themselves if there banks had not been bailed out by the rest of the UK.

A point that keeps being dodged is the Shetland/Orkney sovereignty dilemma.... They don't want to be Scottish, they'd much prefer to be British! Though given the situation the possibility of returning to their alternative cultural roots of Norwegian is on the table.

With them goes a good chunk of hydrocarbon reserves........ "but our economy isn't dependant on NS oil!", so you won't mind them jumping back to the UK then, along with their 'assets'?

Of course conspiracy was rife when the PM made his secret trip to the islands a little while back and wouldn't disclose the reason....... I wonder why he was up there, eh? Looking out for British interests!

I think that cleared that point up just nicely. Will Westminster want to cut it's nose of despite its face. I doubt it. Makes economical sense for both sides to keep it as it is.

I can't watch the vid so can't comment on the points made, But is that the strategy here, lets cross our fingers and hope the Brits see things the way we do?

It makes economic sense to remain a Union....... however......

LOL, okay big bad England. Whatever, that's the crux of this and always has been.

No! A Union gives economic stability!

But I was right? The strategy is 'well, it makes sense to us so they will change their minds'..... in the meantime just cross your fingers eh?

No keeping the pound makes sense to everybody mate. No matter how you look at it it just does. If we do get independence do you want all the nonsense that would go with us getting our own currency. Remember booting us out of it ( which you can't do anyway) means we would be out the debt that the UK are in. Would you want that?

I think we are being quite fair in saying we will keep it exactly how it is. No problems.

It's only a scare tactic....but once you read a bit on it you soon realise that's exactly what it is.

before anyone says if you say no to debt etc it will cause this problem etc etc etc the debt is in uk name not iscotland, international law says iscotland cant default on a debts thats signed in the uk name.

scotland is willing to take on its share of the debt, only if we get our fair share... scotland helped build the strength of the pound, its as much ours as any other nation in the uk

scotland is being fair, its the uk gov trying to play hard ball, use campain tactics to put doubt in voters mind, scottish people can see through that

Yes I would want that, I don't want a foreign state having a significant influence on MY currency. If you vote for independance it will certainly influence my vote next year in the general election. That's how a lot of us evil English feel. You want Independance, then take it, if that's the decision your countrymen make then we'll do the same.

Like I said Lab, it makes sense to YOU. We can't do it, hmmmm....... try us....

f**k it, you lot want the pound? Have it. Take the BoE, it's yours. We'll start a new currency. :D

would the strength of the pound drop if scotland wasnt in a currency union( its already droping at the moment), would that have an effect on the rest of uk aswell, as masssive debts, balence of payments, extra trade costs etc etc it makes sense to everyone...
