Tiercel 6,986 Posted August 24, 2014 Report Share Posted August 24, 2014 Looks like it could be a baby king mackerel. They are an Atlantic species but the west Atlantic. Fish from other waters turn up here often nothing unusual about that. About 25 to 30 years ago there was a spate of Skip jack tuna caught in Carmarthen bay they ranged in size from 15lb down to 3lb for 4 or 5 years there were one or two caught in the nets every year, I had one in beach nets on Cefn Sidan beach, that was the 3lb fish. Mister Gain 1,764 Posted August 24, 2014 Report Share Posted August 24, 2014 Don't think it's a horse mackerel/scad as it's eye is too small, and there is normally a dark/black spot on the edge of the gill plate. Long front dorsal does resemble king mackerel, but to be honest I don't know, One thing for sure, it would have been grilled on the BBQ (in the interest of identification) 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
