A Change Of Ammo ............

Recommended Posts

As some will already know, I am a shooter of glass marbles - simple reason, they're cheap and easy to get hold of, ! But ............

........ recently, I've been shooting much more often, but not getting much to show for it. I've noticed the marbles often spin off to one side or dip very quickly, and are generally quite unpredictable. So, I've pushed the boat out and ordered a couple of hundred 9.5mm steel bearings (cheap as chips !) to go with my nice new Dankung tube-set.

Just out of interest, I weighed them on the digital kitchen scales. the marbles weigh in at 5 grammes, the bearings at 7 grammes, according to the supplier.

Will the trajectory be better ? Flatter ? Longer range ? Will the bearing 'hit' harder than the marbles ? Can 2 grammes really make that much difference ?

Cheers

You're right Atom !

I checked again and I quoted the wrong figure - my mistake, apologies for the confusion. :icon_redface:

But they will still be faster and more accurate even at a little over 3.5g............?

Will the trajectory be flatter ?

(Is all this similar to a .177 pellet versus a heavier .22 ?)

yeah they will be faster and more accurate at longer ranges . marbles are good for close range head shots as they produce more ft lbs (then loose power quickly as they are so light for there size) but any further they tend to swerve like you said

and yes .177 is better than .22
