slip lead 862
Know your ground, know your dog. Expecially with a dog with a high prey drive. Otherwise your dog will have a very short working lifes. Happy Hunting. Quote Link to post

terryd 8,528
Was reading an old article in the country mans weekly about maybe it made sense to start a pup a bit early so it could find its feet when chasing stuff and less likely to be so full on. Rather than show a 12 month old a dog a rabbit for the first time so it goes hell for leather straight into the wire or what ever. 1 Quote Link to post

Starting them early or late will make little difference with some mutts, some just never learn the art of patience and the reward it offers. Some dogs are born feckless and reckless, the only thing that curbs their enthusiasm is running into an immovable object and the consequences of it. whitefeet4190 1,729
Most of The hard tryers and the do or dyers don't see a nice happy retirement in front of the fire unfortunately but just gotta try an prevent dogs from putting themselves in live or death situations ( which is Easter said than done for a running dog) Atb Quote Link to post
