hutchey 147
Hi, I know this is going to open up a load of points but I'm looking for a new / or second hand moderator for 243 223 I have an Atec NM8 (can't recall exactly which model right now) on my 243 but it's not really making much difference. Now do I put that on my 223 and hey presto? Then get a new one for my 243? OR Something different and if so what? (Prefer nothing hugely heavy) Cheers in advance Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Assuming they are the same threads, your mod woud probably be even less effective on the 223. Mods that are labelled "up to 25 cal" on a 22 centrefire aren't generally as effective as a 22 specific mod. Likewise an "up to 30 cal" wouldn't be so effective on a 243 as it would on a 308 say. What calibre is your mod supposed to be for? I've got a Wildcat P8 on my 223 that is calibre specific and a 30 cal on my 308. I really like them. Quote Link to post
ianm 2,594
When i had my .223 i used an Ase utra jetz cqb on it and the same mod worked well on my .243 aswell. 1 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Get a PES/MAE t12 on your .243 mate, the dogs doodars, mine is rated up to .30 cal, and is just as good as anything I have ever heard on a .243, not cheap unless you find a used one, but will last forever. 1 Quote Link to post

I have the PES on my 6.5x55, it has been on a 270,and I had a bushing made to fit it to my 222 when I had it, and I can tell you they are a brilliant moderater 1 Quote Link to post

andyf 144
I have a Wildcat Predator 8 on my .270, very good 'all day' on a particularly 'barky' calibre, but heavy and bulky (a high seat moddy for me). My 'carry' stalking rifle doesn't have a moderator, 7x57 Heym, its loud but on foot I'm only getting one shot anyway. My 22.250 has a Hardy front ported Gen 3, supplied by RifleCraft, this is the best CF moderator I've used, in open country it tames the '250 to near a .22rf high velocity level of noise, also its light and compact. From my experience for CF 22's the Hardy is TOPS. 1 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
I run 3 calibre specific P8 Compacts on my 3 centrefires. They work for me on all levels, sound reduction is as good as any. Everyone will have their favourite sound mod, usually the one they have! Quote Link to post
