Tradesmen Which Cordless Power Tools Do You Use?

Recommended Posts

depends where you are planning on buying the tools.

not all similar looking and even similar speced tools are the same. dewalt is top gear as long as its not bought from big chain diy type places such as b&q or screwfix as they spec shite.

i'd be looking at makita if i wanted all that gear for under a grand.

I stopped at a shop today on the way home, I was considering Panasonic but looking at the range only the combi and impact drills looked really robust.

I was leaning towards Makita but then I was impressed with the feel and balance of the Dewalt range.

Had most makes over the years ( Joiner ),still have Hitachi , Hilti and Milwaukee. Makita and Dewalt are not as good as they used to be,had problems with cordless drills from both of them .

mickc your right im a joiner too and my dewalt cordless is in great nick but the batteries are crap, and to buy new ones cost more than a new drill

tbh as me old gear is wearing out im replacing it with Milwaukee stuff which can take the abuse and are very reliable, the Festool stuff is also very good but also expensive .

Milwaukee, I absolutely abuse my battery tools, I'm on price everyday so haven't got time to sod about using all different tools so the 18v cordless, drills fixings on concrete and punches 25mm augers through joists all day long, they've outlasted every 18v make I've had previously, dewalt are rubbish now, pick up a Milwaukee drill with no battery and then another make, feel the difference in weight, Milwaukee have all metal gears and motors in them, read the spec on them.

As with anything, make sure you buy the heavy duty range (HD) as with all things there's varying levels/prices of different tools.

I prefer Makita, as all my cordless's are Makita I have built up a nice amount of batteries now, ive got 10 batteries, so all I do is buy the bare unit if I need another, and most Makita bare units are fairly good priced, I think at the end of the day we all prefer a certain make of power tool by how it feels and how it looks and performs then we genuinely stick with them.

thanks tl
