rigboot 0
Me again... Following on from my Mk1 box questions, looking for a little more advice please With the recently picked up Mk1 8' locators for repair, there were two collars (red mouldings, smaller batteries and caps) which are a lot smaller than my standard black moulded collars. Pics to help see what I'm drivelling on about: Are these "micro" collars? Can anyone help me source a spare end cap for one of these too please? When replacing the leather portion of the collar, can i simply remove the wee moulded tabs gripping the leather to the moulding easily and resecure/slip on a new collar? Lots of questions but thanks in advance folks Rb Quote Link to post
richie1984 191
It looks like a micro collar the batteries are 393`s or called ag5 get them off eBay the caps for the micros are different size a website called sporting dog sells them they are £5.50 each.the one with the cap on looks like it's a 15ft cap.if it is a 15ft collar which I didn't know they made micro 15 footers it will need two batteries, sorry I can't help more, Forgot to say I'm sure you have to resin the locator onto the new collar once it's removed from the old one I ain't got a clue how you'd get it off tho,atb rich Edited August 20, 2014 by richie1984 Quote Link to post
rigboot 0
Hi Rich Thank you very much for the reply, starting to make sense now. I have some 393's coming so will give them a whirl. Off to have a look at the website for collars now. Much appreciated Thanks Quote Link to post
Leeview 791
The 2 collars you have highlighted are micro collars as already said to remove the collars turn them over and you'll be able to see a seam, using a junior hacksaw blade carefully cut along the seam, and gently work the leather out carefully(theres usually a resin stud that goes through the collar) replacing the collar is a reversal of the above method and refill the gap using araldite, sand excess of when dry and the jobs a good one Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
rigboot 0
Cheers for the tip Leeview, going to order two new collars and get them replaced, got some 2Tonne epoxy which should do the job nicely. If only I could find another cap!! Thanks again Quote Link to post
